Ironically enough I am now rewatching season 1. My daughter decided tonight she wants to watch this season since they are starting a new book. When the series started she was only 6 and I felt she was too young for it and now she's 12, so we watched the first 3 episodes of season 1 tonight. We won't be able to binge watch with school and all the weekday activities we have going on, but I thought it would at least give her an introduction to what the show is about and the format of fairy tale land flashbacks vs real world present day. I imagine she'll be really confused by season 7 because Regina is super evil right now and Henry is 10.

My daughter and I made it up through 1x09 tonight. August has just come to town, Graham is dead, and David just pulled a Robin Hood on Mary Margaret telling her how he has to try with Katherine because of honor and all that. And Mary Margaret says "So you've made your choice" exactly like Regina did in 4x01. I hadn't realized how similar those scenes are.

My daughter says tonight she has no idea how Regina is ever going to turn good because she is so evil and then we have this conversation.

Her: "If Regina wants her son to like her, maybe she should try being a better parent."
Me: "She's going to work on that next season."
Her: "That's good because right now she's like the worst.parent.ever.
Me: "Not even close. That title goes to Cora or Peter Pan."
Her: "PETER PAN HAS A KID??????"

My father and I just finished a whole s6 rewatch together a couple weeks back since it went up on Netflix. Now he is caught up for the new season.

We are up through 1x14 now (Dreamy). She figured out well before they revealed it that Rumple is awake but she hasn't figured out why yet and she's already figured out that the reason Regina hates Snow has something to do with Regina's lost love that has been mentioned a few times. I'm hoping we'll get through The Stable Boy this weekend.

Comment from tonight: "Are Regina and Emma really going to become best friends because I just can't see it."

I've filled her in on some of the things that will happen in the future so she can understand enough to follow season 7.

And I totally forgot I used to ship Emma with August, but now I really remember why.

I also noticed that Lana has really changed Regina's voice over the years. She sounds more like the Evil Queen in season 1, not just her actions and the things she says, but her tone in general. She uses a lighter tone for later seasons.

We are up through 2x08 "Into the Deep" now. This is the episode where David goes under a sleeping curse so he can meet Snow in the fire room so they can try to figure out a way for she and Emma to return from the EF.

I hadn't realized how little story Regina had in the first half of season 2. She had a couple good episodes right after the curse was broken, but she's had very little to do since then. The next ep is "Queen of Hearts" though, so that will be a good one. I think her story picks up once Cora gets to town.

My daughter really likes Ruby's story. I haven't told her yet that we barely see Ruby again after season 2.

She's already figured out that Neal is Baelfire, even though they haven't revealed it yet. In 7x01, Alice mentioned Rumple being Henry's grandfather so she was able put the clues together.

She also thought it was really freaky when Cora raised all the zombies.

I haven't watched s2 in awhile. Yeah, I think where s2 made up with it for Regina is because while she was lacking in SB, the season made up for it with the flashback stories that tied in. We saw alot of the EQ. She's not around a bunch either in s2b in SB, especially after she went into hiding when people thought she killed Archie.

I don't normally rewatch anything from season 2 because none of my favorite episodes are in that season. It occurred to me that I am eventually going to have to watch a lot of things I really don't want to rewatch. That would be the second half of 4b and pretty much all of season 5, except for 5x02 and 100th episode. I'll do it for my daughter though because this has been a lot of fun for us. I might just have to mentally zone out when we get to those episodes.
