Yes thank you for making this general season 7 thread :D

You're welcome. I thought maybe we could talk about what we did or didn't like about season 7 so far and what we'd like to see for the second half. Or just whatever people want to talk about. :)

What I liked:

Roni was fun, but I'm glad we got Regina back early in the season, even if she still looks and has to act like Roni.

Lots of Regina and Henry scenes

Drizella as a tragic villain and all her scenes in 7x06 with Regina

Gothel as the main villain whose motives aren't clear yet. I like storylines that aren't obvious.

Wish Hook as a man who gave up revenge for his child

The wrap up for the Rumbelle story

Getting to see the Wish EQ, even though it wasn't really important to the storyline

What I haven't liked:

Regina lacking in interaction with characters other than Henry

Regina having no new personal storyline

Lucy having no interest in anyone other than her parents. I keep comparing her to season one Henry who wanted to help everyone.

Victoria - I really liked her backstory, but not much else.

Jacinda - Boring, I see no chemistry between she and Henry

Not enough Rumple

What I hope to see:

Regina involved in the coven storyline

More interaction for Regina with characters other than Henry - especially Lucy, Drizella, and Rumple

Regina to find love again with someone who makes her happy, treats her right, and that she doesn't lose.

Redemption for Drizella that somehow involves Regina

Thanks for posting your general thoughts about the season!

I loved reading your thoughts about S7 so far Sherry

I agree I enjoyed seeing Lana play a different version of Regina as Roni but glad that she is awake sooner than I thought she would be :D

I love that we got so many Regina/Roni and Henry scenes.

The villain/s of this season are interesting and keep us guessing

The Rumbelle episode was definitely one of my faves

I really wish Once was airing this month. January is usually good for ratings. Most of the US is cold and miserable and sometimes snowed in. People stay home and watch TV. In the spring, when Once comes back, weather is improving, daylight savings time begins, people go out and do stuff, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. I know it's ABC's decision, not Adam's, but I think that long break puts us at a disadvantage with ratings.

Next Monday is Disney/ABC day at the Winter Press Tour. If this is the final season, it might be announced then. If not, then we might be waiting until May to know what is going to happen.

That was my thinking too.

For anyone who is interested in the future of the show. I'm only quoting the part of the article that relates to Once, but the entire article is at the link.

Agents of SHIELD, Once Upon a Time: ABC boss cautiously optimistic about futures | EW.com

Quote:

Though Once Upon a Time and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have been struggling in the ratings since their respective moves to Friday nights, the two dramas have potential to return next season.

“I would say I’m cautiously optimistic,” ABC boss Channing Dungey told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour Monday. “It’s always hard at this point in January to know because some of it is also dependent on your new development and how you feel about those things, so that’s why it’s really hard at the top of the year to know exactly what’s going to happen.”

In its rebooted seventh season, Once Upon a Time has been averaging 3.7 million total viewers and a 1.1 in the 18-49 demographic season to date. “The thing about Once Upon a Time is that the ratings have been a little bit lower on Friday than they were on Sunday, but our delayed viewing, which we were averaging a bump of about 55 percent, this year has been into triple digits, so the actual fanbase really hasn’t shifted very much,” Dungey says. “It’s more that they’ve been watching it more time-shifted since we’ve been on Friday.”

Dungey notes that a potential season 8 would also depend on the creative, which she has not yet heard. “Eddy [Kitsis] and Adam [Horowitz] are going to be coming in shortly to talk with us about what they would want to be doing if they had another season, so I can’t really say until we’ve had that conversation,” Dungey said.

kindness is free 01-10-2018 02:44 PM

Thanks for that article hopefully we will hear something soon!

sherry02 01-10-2018 03:26 PM

I think we might be waiting until May to know for sure, but I'm still expecting this to be the last season. It don't see many people interested in this season. :(

Imzadi 01-11-2018 04:53 AM

i think so too. and with robert also leaving...
