So I guess the lack of discussion tells what we all thought about this episode.

Belle episodes were never my favorite but I thought this was one of the better ones. This episode actually kept me interested in her backstory so, surprisingly enough, I liked the episode. I think it is one of the better ones this part of the season so far but of course it had to intertwine with Frozen & Elsa|Anna AGAIN!

I am happy for the Belle fans for finally getting some decent storyline. Out of all the regular characters, she has been sidelined the most and her fans usually experience what we are experiencing with Regina right now this part of the season (little to no involvement). Belle deserved a connection to the Frozen arc. Plus, no offense to any CS fans who may be here, but I happen to find them pretty boring together and have come to the conclusion I would rather watch Belle than their scenes. Sorry.

I love EM as the SQ but I am having some problems with her and the Emma story in our world ( the memory wipe). It feels so contrived after the whole Rumple|Regina|Dark Curse foundation to this show. It was established that Rumple was supposed to be the most powerful wizard in all the realms and suddenly someone else beat him to the land without magic so conveniently? In all his hundreds of years of searching for a way to get to Bae, he was never even tipped off to the way SQ was going to do it easily? Meh. Her episode will likely show us how she did it but still. I am having a difficult time swallowing her method getting by Rumple when the show made such a big deal about the Dark Curse. Looks like the significance to that might be wiped out in one episode. *sighs*

Also now there is an existing scroll regarding the Savior? How? Emma was the Savior because Rumple made her the Savior for the purposes of the Dark Curse. Now Ingrid conveniently had a sister that just so happened to look so much like Emma? You know, non-Regina fans can say what they want about the WWW & EQ connection that made Zelena and Regina sisters, but the 'Cora having another baby before Regina' plot was nowhere as far-fetched as this. Just my opinion of course.

Besides, the premise to Emma was her being completely oblivious to the existence of magic and fairytale characters because her only reality was OUR world. That was how she grew up and now suddenly she's had encounters she has just forgotten. Emma's background could have been explored without contriving things because first her son's father was Rumple's son and now the SQ was involved in her life? Next we'll find out that Aladdin & Jasmine were the foster parents that sent her back to foster care at 3 years old for having their own baby, LOL.

I'm fairly neutral on Belle, but I think that if the epsiode had focused more on Belle and her mother (and given them some kind of real story) and less on Belle and Anna, I might have liked it better. We've had Anna with Charming, Anna with Rumple, Anna with Belle. It's just another way of getting in more frozen backstory while including some of the main characters, but in the end, it still feels like it's more about Anna that it is about whoever she's with.

I'm not digging this whole the Snow Queen wants a replacement family thing. She's after Emma because Emma has magic and happens to look like the Snow Queen's sister? Huh? Really? Surely there is more to it than that.

You are right. Belle's flashback was still made about Anna and the Frozen arc but I think what balanced it out a bit for me was it paralleled Belle in the present time, inside of Storybrooke, and provided her with some actual character development for a change. She has been a background or side character in SB too long. But I do absolutely agree that focusing more on her background with her mother would have made things more interesting.

I do understand what probably lead Ingrid to feel isolated and alone without family. My guess is going to be that something tragic happened with Ingrid's powers that somehow caused harm or death to the third sister ... leading to her eventual imprisonment inside the urn. It might have been an accident but she was probably feared and shunned by her own family. Later on, it would explain why Elsa & Anna's mother (& father) panicked when Anna experienced her accident at the hands of Elsa. They were desperate to find a way to strip their daughter's magic before her fate became just like Ingrid's.

The part that is not connecting for me is why Emma. How did the SQ have time to find out about her in the EF while being imprisoned all that time in the urn, especially when Rumple created who the Savior would be? Maybe her episode will answer some of this but going after Emma feels like the contrived part. Out of all the possible magical people already in the EF whom she could have chosen? Even Rumple never knew ahead of time that Emma would have the magical ability she had until Emma brought it up to him in S2 with the Cora incident. So now, SQ conveniently knew how to get to a land without magic ahead of Rumple AND now she knew Emma would have powerful magic before he knew too? Right.

And after watching that preview for the next episode, I think they are making Emma's magical abilities start to appear too campy. She can suddenly create magical handcuffs out of thin air and her magic is so repressed it can blow out a building? Plus, attempting to parallel that Emma's family would treat her in the same fashion as Ingrid's family allegedly held disdain for her, because of the magic, and to make Emma feel that way, is a stretch for me. They may not have it themselves, so she believes someone like Regina would understand her better, but after everything Emma would really believe they would shun her?

This magical story is starting to come across as a way to push Emma to the top, over Regina & maybe eventually Rumple, to show she is the most powerful of all.

yes, this what annoyed me the most was the Belle and Anna thing, just did not vibe for me and yes it did feel more about Anna, enough of the Anna pairings already
