I am also assuming, unless we get confirmation otherwise, that Regina, Hook, and Rumple in season 7 are the same characters from previous seasons, just under a curse in Hyperion Heights. Otherwise, nothing from the previous seasons is even relevant anymore.

I was disappointed that Regina and Rumple were never mentioned at D23. I know Colin was there so it makes sense there would be questions for him about Hook, but A&E could have at least mentioned the other returning characters. All they've really talked about so far is Henry. I hope SDCC will be a bit more balanced.

I saw the pictures of Hook in a police uniform and I heard there is speculation that Rumple is a detective. If thery're going with a criminal justice theme (very strange choice for a fantasy show), then maybe Regina is a lawyer. Hopefully she's not in jail!

Interesting, I don't think I ran across the detective speculation for Rumple. What a choice - I wonder what the relevance is to cursing them in those particular professions (cop|possible detective)? Lol. Wish we could speculate more on Regina but there has been nothing I have run across so far. Nothing. Besides the flashbacks with younger Henry. Probably because there hasn't been outdoor filmimg with her on the Hyperion Height setting would be my guess.

I did notice they included a Mr. CLuck's as part of the outdoor setting (ie. A nod to LOST & the s4 OUAT episode with Rumple & QoD going through the drive-thru), lol, and amusingly thought about if Regina's position was stripped under the curse, she was working there, lol.

Hahaha, Regina working at Mr. Cluck's! Can you imagine how much she would hate that. I guess if the person casting the curse really has a vendetta against her, she might end up in a job like that. I'm looking for her to be in some position that has her in contact with law enforcement though. If not a lawyer, I saw someone suggest social worker, especially if Lucy is in the system and not with her mom.

Oh, social worker for Lucy is an interesting speculation. Lawyer, maybe, but yeah, I agree, I think it's probably going to depend on what kind of a vendetta this is and against whom. I am starting to suspect, though, that this new curse is probably targeted against Henry & his wife foremost so we'll see characters connected to her in Hyperion Heights and then Regina, Hook, & Rumple were taken as a slight against Henry. They are pretty immediate or close relations to him like mother, grandfather, & step-father. I bet we'll get some passing explanation that whoever did this tried to get Emma as well but it back-fired somehow. The rest of SB was probably placed under this new curse from afar, explaining why they won't age either if we ever see those characters again.

Which brings me to share my opinion on where the story could be going with Regina, Hook, & Rumple as secondary characters. To be fair, I will be patient & wait to see what comes out of SDCC but as of right now, it appears our returning originals are being very under promoted for the new season. I don't know if that's such a good sign. I mean, I get they are going to hype Henry & his romance because it is a new relationship coming to the show (ie. apparently somebody saw the character name 'Jacinda' for Dania Rameriz aka. New Cinderella) BUT I think it's being hyped too much to the point where A&E are under this impression everybody is just instantly going to fall in love with this new pairing because they compared it to the likes of Snowing. That's not how it works - people need time to see it play out first to form an opinion and I think it will be a huge mis-step if they underuse the return of Regina, Rumple, & Hook in exchange for the newbies + Adult Henry|New Cinderella. Especially considering that most of who is left from their original viewership is either not going to return and watch because of the big cast overhaul or the rest are mainly coming back because of the originals who are returning. I am starting to think maybe another poster's projection is right and our returning characters are just being used to transition the new characters into the show. We have already discussed in the past how they appear to have no new material for Regina anymore. Hope I'm wrong about that, though.

I agree. They can't expect everyone will immediately fall in love with Henry and Cinderella. I'm sure some will, but Adult Henry is not an established character on this show the way that Regina, Rumple, and Hook are. If people are bored by Adult Henry's story and they're not getting anything good for the other three, they're going to tune out. Shows in their 7th season don't get a lot of new viewers, so they're going to be relying heavily on the returning viewers sticking with the show.

I'm looking for Henry to act as the new Emma in that most of the other characters will be supporting his story in some way, but it's always been like that. Usually the other characters have still managed to have some story of their own. I expect the first few episodes to be super light on Regina. I imagine 7x01 will focus heavily on introducing Adult Henry, Cinderella, and the new town and we know 7x02 is Hook's centric.

I can live with Henry as the new main protagonist since I already know Regina is closely tied to his character and I am going into this with hope for the Regina & Adult Henry relationship ... but, like you said, we still don't know how the audience will take to the new adult iteration of Henry played by the new actor. We still have to wait and see how his chemistry is with the other characters on screen. I am in absolute agreement that if they don't balance this correctly with all their regulars it could be a problem. As long as Regina is still relevant and they give her story to explore for her character growth, I should be fine with it. Just don't treat her with the type of 'regular status' they saddled poor Belle with most of the time and I will be good.

Hoping 7x03 will be Regina centric to explain how she came to be in Hyperion Heights. :) 7x02 is definitely for Hook, titled A Pirate's life, and I think JMo has just flown into Vancouver for her last episode to film scenes for this episode. The premiere will probably definitely be establishing Henry first and how he got where he is.

I hope so. It would be nice if the episode title made it obvious like they did for Hook's centric. Rumple will be getting one too I'm sure. I'm selfishly hoping Regina's is first because I am just impatient. :lol:

If anyone here follows the news from SDCC this weekend and hears news about Regina, would you post here? I'm going to be out of town this weekend, which I'm actually a little bummed about because I love following SDCC coverage as it happens, but I'm going to try to check in Saturday to see if there is anything on Regina. :fingers_crossed:

If I come across news coming out of SDCC I will defintely comment here. Not sure what I'll be doing towards the weekend but I'm sure I will be checking for spoilers. :)

Yup, I hope so, since Lana's confirmed for SDCC with Colin, Robert, Andrew, & Dania. Since we have heard so little about her thus far, I am sure people are going to be curious for something. I guess Adelaide Kane had to cancel last minute although her character is only recurring right now.
