“Sympathy for the De Vil” – In fictional 1920s England, viewers meet a young Cruella, whose oppressive mother uses her Dalmatians to terrorize her daughter. Cruella is confined to her mother’s attic until a mysterious stranger arrives and empowers her to challenge her captor. In Storybrooke, Regina gains leverage to keep Gold from interfering with her plan to rescue Robin, but her trip to New York takes the backseat when she and Emma learn that Cruella has kidnapped Henry, on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, APRIL 19 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

I liked that they did not give Cruella a sympathetic backstory. It was much darker and different than what they usually do and I enjoyed it. They did have me fooled for the first part of the epsiode though. I didn't start suspecting her until she didn't want to go back to the hotel with the author and wanted to return to her mother first.

I'm unclear if Belle consented to having Regina take her heart or not. Those comments about Will being the better kisser probably were not part of any plan Belle knew about, that just isn't like her, but that doesn't mean she didn't consent to let Regina use her heart. I hope we get some clarification about that at some point. I love that Regina beat Gold at his own game.

I can't agree with A&E's thinking that Emma killing Cruella makes her dark. She didn't know that Cruella wasn't capable of killing Henry, so to me that is irrelevant. She tried to get Cruella to let Henry go several times. Cruella wouldn't back down, she had a gun pointed at Henry, I think Emma did what she believed had to be done to save her son. I imagine Emma is going to feel guilty when she finds out though, assuming someone is going to tell her.

I missed Robin and wish we had some follow up to his story after last week's episode, but maybe there are things happening with him they don't want us to know yet. I'm very frustrated by how little he's appeared in this half of the season though.

Agree with all the other things you said, but I just wanted to comment on this.

I don't think A&E are trying to say that killing Cruella is the reason Emma will go dark, rather, I think Emma's reaction to the murder is going to eat at her. Emma's the sort of person who always believes there's another way around murder. Remember when she forced everyone to save Regina at the end of season two? Less than a few days after Regina almost murdered the entire town and fed Henry a love potion?

Personally, I don't think Emma had another choice wrt killing Cruella--she did what she had to do and I think I'd have done the same for my kid--but Emma will feel the guilt of it. She'll react the same way that Snow reacted to killing Cora, and that's what's going to turn her dark. Her guilt will be her undoing.

I thought Regina was controlling what Belle said at that point. Particularly since at the end of what Belle was saying to Gold, the camera I think panned over to Regina actually finishing her sentence?

100% agree with this. It makes the OQ and RH story line very choppy.

I liked the episode. I think it was also really refreshing that Cruella wasnt a good girl that turned bad

although.. the villian monicker doesnt quite fit wtih her. villians - for me - are people that have been good and turned bad.. she was down right evil - a bad person and a serial killer

Victoria did great in portraying her and her acting was amazing. loved watching her.

I know Emma would be the one killing her like we have discussed in teh spoilers thread. So no happy ending for Cruella...

emma is on the path of getting dark, cause her heart now has a black spot in it. I dont know if she will be ridden with guilt. maybe that is the actual point.. that she starts not to feel remorse anymore? I dont know but otherwise it wouldnt really make her all that evil right? Cruella DID threaten to kill henry and Emma didnt know she she couldnt actually kill, so it was practically self defense

loved the Regina scenes and yes I think Belle gave her heart willingly.. OF COURSE the talking in the end was all Regina and her personal little revenge on Rumple.. i dont think tho seh would ever do something bad to belle. MAybe she even returned the heart before she goes on that road trip

I think they have no idea what they want to do with Emma, she was a saint in season1 and now all of a sudden she is going dark.

As for Robin, they cant focus on one character in more than one episode in a row, especially with characters are not regulars. Only Emma is getting focus in almost every episode.

Btw was there anything about Regina in the new promo?

Ugh, we know the next one is her episode but i hope we get at least some Regina on her own in NY. God just a little something before 420. Is that supposed to be Regina/Cora or Zelena/Cora?

Im afraid we wont get any OQ in these last episodes and we were suffering without them for so long.
