Yeah, just take a look at OQ & Zelena too. Tells us what we need to know.
They will forever have shared a father figure/ mentor type of relationship with a dark twist in my eyes so thank goodness I can brush Golden Queen off since it wasn't the real Regina. __________________

Thank goodness if they were going to do it, it was Rumple and the Queen, not Rumple and Regina. I would have preferred neither.

I felt bad for the Rumbelle fans. I felt like I was going to barf from having to watch one scene of Robin kissing Zelena, they had to watch multiple scenes of Rumple kissing the Queen. I guess at least there were no consent issues involved, but I'm sure it was still unpleasant.

Agreed. Rumbelle fans got put through the ringer like OQ fans - the big difference is they got some good pay off in the end. We OQ'ers did not, Dark OQ is NOT them.
 Emilie's real life pregnancy probably worked in their favor to bring Rumbelle back together over their child otherwise who knows what would have become of them. Gideon was not always planned for s6 - no way, lol.__________________

The funny thing about the timing with Emilie's pregnancy is that she had the baby before Belle's pregnancy was showing, so it could have easily not been written in at all. I think they had probably already started planning the story for Gideon though, so they just went ahead with it. I always figured Rumbelle would somehow end up together because of the Beauty and the Beast thing, but they certainly didn't have an easy road getting there. There were several times I didn't see how the relationship would recover. Despite all the crap they threw at OQ, the one thing they always had going for them was honesty. They were never any secrets or lies between them.

Yup - I think Gideon was the fail safe for the story so they just pushed ahead with it. I know for a series regular, Belle got the same kind of treatment as Robin and they got pulled out of the closet to bring drama to either Rumple or Regina. OQ did have honest which is why we got saddled with the crappy external drama.

Belle and Robin did very much both get the "love interest" treatment. At least Belle got some centric episodes, parents, and a few past adventures with other characters but that might just be because she was on the show a lot longer and she's a Disney princess (I think that counts for something on this show). Robin was treated as nothing more than another test in Regina's redemption arc.

Yup, Robin Hood got the shoddy treatment of sidekick love interest. Completely imbalanced which I guess is quite a sign looking back that inspite of Lana & Sean's amazing chemistry, they were never serious about a new LI for her. You are right that Belle at least got some development through her own flashbacks. Sean's basically revolved around *puke* being with Marian (this part isn't too bad she's a part of his past) and getting to OZ to show he encountered Zelena before. For 2 villains, Regina ultimately got shafted more than Rumple did in the true love department. __________________
