i always liked her look in the first Divergent film, she hasn't quite looked like that since. i understand why Shai had to drop some weight to play terminal cancer patient Hazel in Fault In Our Stars (a mesmerizingly sad yet uplifting and great film, btw) but it's taken a bit to get back to that look somewhat, thought she looked pretty good and healthy in Allegiant.

i remember reading somewhere that Shai said in an interview about TFIOS, that she didn't realize what a lot of weight loss would change in her body, she looked pretty skinny and intentionally tired/worn out in that film, as a cancer patient on oxygen would, but it must have taken a toll on her at times. she did a fabulous job as Hazel, but i sometimes wonder if weight loss for roles is a bad thing in the long run.

i liked her acting in Insurgent, but she seemed so skinny at times it was kind of distracting as the character of Tris looked so damn healthy at the end of Divergent. i guess we just have to assume that Tris lost some weight in her anxiety and personal crisis over shooting Will and the death of her parents, during the time they spent at Amity.

anyway, great to see Shai looking fit and healthy at the Dakota pipeline protest and looking forward to seeing her in Snowden. i would have loved to see her as Mary Jane Watson in the Spiderman films. *sighs*

And you're right, losing and gaining weight is never healthy... but maybe she lose weight eating healthy food.

I'm sure though that she had a dietician's help and advice for the weight loss and how to gain back properly, and not too fast, which isn't healthy either if too quick.

I think she looks fantastic now.
