I have started our re-read and these are my thoughts so far

Chapters 1 and 2

I loved how it started jumping straight in with Tris and Natalie and how they introduce Abnegation and then later on explain about the other factions. I loved how she admired her brother for being so selfless and how she was fighting with staying with her family but being unhappy or finding a faction she truly belongs in. You could see how she looked up to the Dauntless. I loved the build up to the test and the actual test.



Chapters 3 and 4

I love these two chapters as you see Tris' internal struggle with what she is told after her test. She knows she won't choose Erudite as like she said she is her fathers daughter and just doesn't trust them even the. Before she finds out what they are truly like. Their are subtle hints with caleb also. When he keeps questioning his sister like he needs to know what she got that hunger for knowledge and then the books she sees in his room start to show his aptitude for erudite.

What Tori did for Tris was so brave a true dauntless trait as she risked her life telling Tris what she is and tampering with the results also a selfless thing to do thinking of Tris before herself.

I found it interesting and must have skimmed past it first tme I read was that she could hear the trains horn in the background like Dauntless were calling out to her.

Also this is just my fourtriss heart talking, the fact she mentioned Tobias before she knew him as Four. When her father brought up the news about Marcus and that she knew of Tobias and she knew he kept to himself then she didnt know why but she was thinking of him

Tris has a tough decision to make go with her heart and choose dauntless or try to be selfless and choose abnegation for her family.




Chapter 5

The tension and pressure Tris and Caleb must have felt going into that choosing ceremony. Caleb sees to have know all along and seemed easier to choose. But for Tris she still didn't know for sure even when getting the knife she had to go with her gut instinct and went for Dauntless. It was the right choice for her even though its devastating for their parents! She felt guilty but thats because she cares but had to do what would make her happy. Her mom understood that Natalie is amazing


Chapter 6

Leaving abnegation and her family behind Tris has to follow the other Dauntless members to whatever lies next for her she takes it all on her stride she may be scared but she doesn't show it! It's always a heart stopping moment when she along with the others have to jump onto a moving train and I am glad Christina was there to help her and in turn tris helped Christina by telling her if she sits down she will be less likely to fall out! When they have to jump out of the moving train onto a roof that has me on the edge of my seat as I know not everyone makes it! I love that tris was the first jumper no one expected it and I was like yes you go girl lol. When she gets to the bottom cone meets four for the first time I always love that moment. How she describes him he is gorgeous and she might as well as described Theo he is exactly how she describes Four I love Tris better than Beatrice it just suits her more and when he says welcome to dauntless I get goosebumps

Chapter 7

I loved Tris and the initiates introduction to dauntless it was both creepy and fun! I felt when they had to go through the dark tunnels with hardly any lights spooky and creepy! I did love and felt their excitement when they saw the pit and then the dauntless canteen :-). Once they had changed to their dauntless clothes and headed back to the canteen we saw Eric again and jai is nothing how I imagined Eric I really hate him on the book and I am so glad they got jai in the film he makes Eric a bit more likable in the film. In the book he makes me feel weirded out the same feeling tris gets. I love the banter at the table between the initiates and especially between tris and four
