Tomorrow we're going to go to the carnival if Amaya feels up to it (who am I kidding, she will her issues don't start til night time which is super weird and also a sign of gallbladder issues or reflux) and Sunday is driving for me how about you, Fiona?

Tomorrow is my aunt's birthday, so there's a get-together of the whole family.

Thank you, I'm glad too . I just gotta keep an eye on her random throwing up this weekend, if it continues I'll call her GI as that's all a sign of gall stones but I'm hoping she's done with it

Happy birthday to your aunt Kathrin, have fun!

It’s a three day weekend here (I don’t know why really, it always is in the last weekend of August ). So I’m going to a friends birthday barbecue this evening and tomorrow hopefully going out for a Sunday roast, which I’m looking forward to because I’ve not had one for ages No plans for Monday though.

^Well all deadly things have been crossed out so...if it's gallstones it's not an easy fix but I know she'll be okay. I think that was my biggest concern.

Are the kids back in school yet, Fiona? Maybe that's why, to show the end of summer. We do that here only it's the first Monday in September (though Western and Southern kids are back I think it's only the North East like us still on summer break )

They go back on September 2nd, I think. I think it signifies the end of summer. We had the last one at the end of May. To be honest, I think it’s just a really old tradition that’s just still happening.

^We're so similar to you guys then. Though we call them Memorial Day (for those who have served in the army) and Labor Day most people use them as the start and end of summer. I can't believe it's basically gone already . I love Autumn and all but I feel winter is too long and summer so short, at least give us a long Autumn and a shorter winter

Fiona, yay for 3-day-weekends

Here it's very different when school is starting again. Usually it's the second or third week of September, in the south of Germany, that is. Every federal country has different dates and time frames.

^Weird how we all vary but it makes sense. I think were Candace is they went back in the second week of August. When do they usually end school though, Kathrin? I wish it was like that here instead of early Sept to mid June, it could go end of September til like July 1st that way the kids actually can have a summer (usually we stay warm right up til October give or take).

Usually in the south the last school day is in the 3rd or 4th week of July.

Kids here are off from mid July until the beginning of September so it’s about 6 weeks.

I had a good day today, me and my friend went for a lovely walk in the sun around a viaduct and then she made me a healthy but tasty lunch. The weather has turned very summery here again today which is unexpected but nice.
