So I've been watching a bit of season 3 lately and it's occurred to me why we all dislike Josh (and of course, I had to share with you guys ). It's because unlike the women Castle was with, we saw them with one on one with Castle whereas we never saw a scene with Beckett and Josh on their own so we never knew what type of boyfriend he was and the feel of their relationship. We always saw Josh pop up unexpectedly when Castle was there (and always at a bad time). We only saw Josh through Castle's eyes. Another part of the series that showed that Castle (the show) was Beckett's story through Castle's eyes

Although seeing Beckett's story through Castle's eyes wouldn't explain all the Rysposito scenes etc , but yeah, I know what you mean

Fiona you're probably right with that theory. And it's funny you bring up Josh because if there is one thing I can say it's that we're all divided when it comes down to Josh. Half of us think he'd be an awesome guy (even for Beckett if Castle wasn't around) and the other half find him to be a jealous jerk of Castle so going your theory if we did see something of them together and mentions from Beckett about them and time together we all might just have a different feel on him.

Kathrin I hear ya on that, the Ryan/Espo scenes and even like the Ryan/Espo/Lanie ones in season 8 but funny it was brought up because when Stana was let go from Castle that was the big thing being brought up-Castle was about Rick telling us Kate's story through his eyes (but those stating that had no comment about the Rysposito scenes). Some of those people who said that though also believe that Rick and Kate died in Crossfire and the kids was the daydream of their life flashing of what could have been (a theory that does make sense but I absolutely refuse to event think that )

I don't mind Josh, he did seem to care about Kate and like I said as an audience we just saw him (as Castle saw him) as the guy who was "in the way". I'd have liked to have seen scenes with just the two of them (Beckett and Josh) like we did with Castle and Gina in the third season.

I wouldn't say it was a strict "Beckett's story through Castle's" eyes thing because obviously there are scenes where he isn't there but I think in the first few seasons at least, Castle was there in Beckett's big moments and we experienced them as Castle did. One example of this was when Beckett told Castle about her mother, the audience found out when Castle did. And the same with some of the other "onion layers" of Beckett. They seemed to have lost that towards the end of the series.

When I first heard the theory that they had died and the end was a dream, I was like "what?!" but then I remembered that it said "seven years later" at the bottom of the screen and a dream wouldn't have that

Fiona, I agree with it being through Castle's eyes more cleary in the early seasons

And no, I refuse, just REFUSE to believe they died in Crossfire. Just. Nope.

Me too Kathrin, to each their own but in my world as Simon Doyle said Castles lives in NY with his wife, senator Beckett and their three kids and I think that episode was our giveaway to their future had Castle not gone on other seasons.

Now, that that is out there...I did mind Josh until he attacked Castle in 4x01. Then I was part of the I Hate Josh club.

I think I was in it before Rise, I think it was the vibe he gave off like Fiona said though had I seen Josh with Beckett alone just the two of them I might have felt different about him. It's hard to like someone you see once in a while and then throw in Beckett's talk about wanting someone there for her to just dive in made it seem like Josh wasn't this great guy haha
