Thanksgiving meals are huge. We usually have a ham and turkey. Dressing. Sweet potato casserole. Mad and cheese. Green bean casserole. And various desserts.

That's the basics but if you have a potluck and everyone is bringing a side dish, there's no telling what all will be there.

I'm so happy to hear that your mom is doing so well, Marilyn :yay: I hope it will stay that way. Can't wait to hear from you about your day there.

Oh man, it sounds soooo delicious, Marilyn! The meals I mean... I had the ham and turkey, the dressing, sweet potato casserole, mac and cheese and a lot of other stuff as well because we always went to Cracker Barrels for lunch on Thanksgiving (although I have to admit that I always thought it sad that they had to work that day). Still, the food was really delicious

TFTNT! :)

Happy Thanksgiving Marilyn! I am so glad your mom is doing well. :)

Lauren Helen Graham 11-23-2018 06:21 AM

So how are you doing, Miranda? How is your vacation so far?

Miranda 11-23-2018 10:45 AM

I am doing good. I am so busy  I worked on a couple OP's on Monday and Tuesday. I was away for the entire day on Wednesday, I went out to lunch with a colleague and after that I went shopping and out to dinner with my cousin. Yesterday I didn't do much and today I went grocery shopping with my sister and this afternoon my hairdresser came over and cut and colored my hair and in about an hour I am going to visit my best friend and her boyfriend and tomorrow, me and my family are going away to "celebrate" my mom's birthday and on sunday is the anniversary of her death. So a very full week.

Lauren Helen Graham 11-24-2018 12:08 PM

Miranda, I definitely need a picture of your hair cut! And I want to see the color! You didn't tell me about it before...

And oh no, how could I have forgotten about your mom's birthday, hun. I really hope you'll still have a day full of great memories of your mom  And her death anniversary on Sunday :( I hope you're okay

I've been at school for the first two days and it's been really great :) I loved it, some of the people are great and I'm sure the two years will be tons of fun!

Miranda 11-25-2018 11:33 AM

I just sent you one but I am going to make another during daylight tomorrow and send it to you. I wanted something else and it really was a spur of the moment kind of thing. I didn't think about it for weeks.

And no worries about forgetting my mom's birthday. You can't think of everything. And yes we had a nice day yesterday.

I am really glad that you liked it so much Kris and that there are nice people there. That is so important. :)

Lauren Helen Graham 11-25-2018 12:36 PM

Can't wait for the daylight one :)

And how was today? Was it okay of a day? Have you been with family?

Btw, will you start to set up Christmas decorations the next couple of days? If so, will you set up the star I sent you last year? :D

Fangirl49 11-27-2018 12:27 PM

Miranda a day of celebration and remembrance sounds beautiful

I hope to start putting up the tree this weekend.

Lauren Helen Graham 11-27-2018 12:40 PM

You're setting the Christmas tree up already, Marilyn? Is it a real one or a artificial tree? I'm just wondering because I would set up the real one this week, he'd never survive until Christmas :look:

Fangirl49 11-28-2018 12:22 PM

Oh no. It's definitely artificial. My hope is this weekend. Idk if that will be the case or not. Honestly, I could be happy not decorating at all but the boys still want a tree.

Miranda 11-28-2018 01:47 PM

I will definitely put up the star you got me Kris but I am not decorating for Christmas for a few weeks. First we have Sinterklaas of course on Dec. 5th and since my dad doesn't love Christmas that much I won't decorate for a few weeks.

Fangirl49 11-29-2018 12:44 PM

I miss you guys!!

Hey y'all

Quick little recap of my past few months.
From May/June, I took some time away from FF cause we were having some serious marriage issues which resulted in some bad mental issues for me
We worked through it though and we're definitely in a good place now :)
I started working since August (after being a stay-at-home mom for 10 years! )
I enjoy work (helping old people in their household, so cleaning at different people's homes), but it's been quite an adjustment :)
I've had to cut down on online time to make sure my balance stays good in life :)
(that's why I quit 2 boards and Moderator Support Team too, Fan Art is my baby, I can't let that board go  )
Miranda PM-ing me about the gifset drew me back here. I miss chatting with y'all and I also DO miss the show! But like I said in the other thread, I'm not really bothered about spoilers with this show and knowing what's going to happen, I haven't found the will to get caught up just yet :look:

I hope everyone is doing well

Lauren Helen Graham 11-30-2018 12:25 AM

Ah, Marilyn, that's what I thought because otherwise it would have been really difficult to get the tree through :D
And am I hearing that you're kind of a 'Grinch', Marilyn? :P

Miranda, aww! :yay: And will you send me a picture when you've set it up?

Oh wow, Paula... A lot happened in your life over the past months. I'm glad to hear you and your husband are at a good place again in your marriage  And starting to work again! That's huge :) And so awesome you like it so much.
You know, quitting down here on :ff: is totally fine if it helps you getting more balanced.

Besides, I'm super happy you're back!

Fangirl49 11-30-2018 12:37 PM

I was never a grinch before. When my dad was living Christmas was our time.

Honestly my husband and I have different views about giving gifts. I think he spends too much. He thinks I'm stingy. If I pick something (even if we agree ahead of time) he tends to hate it and will buy something else.

I used to love shopping for a small gift, trying to pick something intimate, gift wrapping. Maybe even baking for others. But now if I try to do it my way, it leads to arguments. It's hard when people have totally different viewpoints about things. Don't get me wrong. He's not a villain. I'm sure I could do better too. Anyway, I've had to pull back from my holiday expectations.

Paula, I understand about balancing your time. Glad you and hubby are in a better place and that you enjoy your job. I hope you will have time to pop in sometimes.
