Raymond "Red" Reddington, a former government agent, attended the United States Naval Academy graduating top of his class at the age of 24,
and was being groomed for Admiral when he disappeared while coming home to visit his family for Christmas in 1990.
4 years later, he resurfaced, selling classified documents to the enemy.
Over the next 20 years he built a syndicate of contacts: Spies, thieves, smugglers, drug dealers, people smugglers, human traffickers, arms dealers, forgers, hackers, mercenaries, and assassins.
Eventually he went from just selling secrets to also starting wars, toppling governments and influencing geo-politics to suit his needs.
He became known as "The Concierge of Crime" due to his ability to arrange deals between the various black market factions.
He willfully surrenders to the FBI and provides information on a roster of criminals that he refers to as "The Blacklist".
Dangerous criminals who are so careful to avoid leaving any traces behind that the FBI has not even detected their existence.
His ethics are somewhat murky, and he espouses the use of some crimes in the service of "the greater good".
He uses his arrangement with the FBI to pursue his own secret agenda.

James Todd Spader was born on February 7, 1960 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Jean and Stoddard Greenwood "Todd" Spader.
Both his parent were teachers.
During his early education, James attended The Pike School (where his mother taught art) and enrolled in the Brooks School (where his father taught) in North Andover, Massachusetts for one year.
He later transferred to Phillips Academy but dropped out in the 11th grade to pursue acting at the Michael Chekhov School in New York City.
Before becoming a full-time actor, he held a variety of jobs, including yoga instructor, busboy, truck driver, stable boy, and railroad car loader.
James is married to actress Leslie Stefanson.
They have a son together; Nathaneal who was born in 2008.
He also has two sons (Elijah and Sebastian) from a previous marriage.

I'm really am curious how he will come out of it on the other end. I'm wondering if this situation will change him.

I love that they whole board is getting all pretty

I wonder how quickly Red will recover from the bullet wounds. I have never been shot, but I imagine that it really sucks.

I am interested in who shot him. I think it was someone in the Alliance for sure. They don't believe that Red has the Fulcrum and the new leader really wants to take him out.

And the Director is conveniently back so I'm thinking it has to be the Alliance too.

Realistically, Red cannot recover that quickly from a bullet wound so I expect he'll be recuperating for a while.

I wonder if we find out right away who shot Red in the next ep?

I hope we will find out who shot him bu knowing the writers I don't we will find out in the upcoming episode.

Red recuperating.. He will not be good at that I think. Once he feels the slightest bit better I think he wants to start working again.

It's the most logical theory I have... The one that makes the most sense but that doesn't always have to be it like TBL proofed to us before.

Oh damn it, I really hope we'll at least find out before the season finale!

Red not being able to be Red? Oh man... That will be super interesting to watch and I#m sure he won't be good at it at all... In recovering I mean.

I just wonder if they will fast forward through his injury. Like he will be down in this episode coming up but the following week he will be good to go.

I wonder if Liz and Ressler are going to make finding the shooter a prerogative. I hope that they do.

I also wonder if almost dying is going to change Red's mind about what information he shares with Liz. Because really without Red to protect her, if Liz doesn't know who she is and what she's wanted for, it could be detrimental to her in the future if someone comes after her.

and I hope being shot will change Red's mind. I hope he will see that he won't live forever and that Liz deserves some kind of answers.

I as well don't hope they'll fast forward because it'll be so interesting to see Red being vulnerable and how he deals with such a situations, especially now that the Alliance is closing in on him. It'll be such a character development for him (or not). Seeing him struggle and maybe even accept help from people he never thought possible. I really hope we'll see him recovering for the rest of the season.

And I'm sure that Lizzie's safety is assured by Red's associates or even Dembe. He won't leave her unprotected at all. And then there's even Tom and who knows, maybe Red will seek help by him even when it comes to Lizzie's protection

Does the show do a lot of fast forwards? I think not so I'm sure we won't get any but if we do, I think it won't be too much of a flash forward that will make us confused.

I read in a interview with Jon Bokenkamp that they will pick up where they left off. So with Red bleeding on the street and Dembe and Liz under fire so no time jumo to a hospital or wherever they will take him!
