-- TOP 5 SEASON 1 --

1. Alan Fitch
Alan Alda

Assistant Director of National Intelligence / Cabal operative

Publicly, Fitch works as an Assistant Director of National Intelligence. On the side, he is a senior member of the Cabal whose secrets Red knows. Red has arranged for those secrets to be divulged in the event of his death in order to make sure Fitch's organization stays away from him. He is the one responsible for Berlin's daughter's disappearance, having helped her escape from a gulag and faking her death. After Berlin finds out that Fitch is behind his daughter's disappearance, he orders his agents to abduct Fitch and strap a pipe bomb on him, intending to kill him. The FBI later finds Fitch with a bomb strapped around his neck. He is escorted to FBI headquarters and locked in the box. There, several bomb squad officers attempt to disable the bomb. Fitch asks Red if he has the Fulcrum. Red merely says that he cannot stop the bomb. Fitch says that his death will trigger a series of events, which will make it harder for the moderates to resist the radicals, and predicts that by 2017, conditions will get worse. Fitch names 2 members who might be willing to ally with Red. Fitch then tells Red the combination to a safe he has hidden away in St. Petersburg, but is unable to tell him the location within the city before the bomb explodes.

2. Anslo Garrick
Ritchie Coster

Anslo Garrick is a mercenary who specializes in raiding classified and well defended prison facilities and extracting high level prisoners, always using extreme levels of violence. He works almost exclusively with a unit of highly armed, countryless mercenaries known as "The Wild Bunch". At some point, he successfully raids a CIA black site in the Bering Sea to exfiltrate a man named Mahmoud al-Azok. At some point he and Red work together, though the alliance ends in 2008 when Garrick gives the FBI Red's train number and itinerary for a stop at Waterloo station in Brussels. Red realizes that Garrick has betrayed him and shoots him, damaging the right side of his face and apparently blinding his right eye. However, Garrick survives and spends 5 years in a prison described as a "black hole". To remind himself of the incident, Garrick never repairs the facial scarring with surgery. At the request of Alan Fitch, he organizes and leads a raid on the Post Office. The purpose of the attack is to capture Red, but he manages to enter a secure holding cell together with Ressler, who is shot in the leg by one of Garrick's men before Garrick and his men can catch Red. Garrick realizes from Red's reaction to seeing Liz that threatening her will probably have a better outcome than threatening Dembe. When he puts the gun to Liz's head, Red forces Ressler to reveal the box password. Garrick uses the password and Cooper's hand to open the box. Garrick and some of his men take Liz and Red to the lower level and begin to drill though the floor. When the drilling is complete they all escape through the storm drains to a waiting ambulance. In the ambulance Garrick has to drive when Liz's escape causes the death of the original driver. Red's DARPA tracker is removed and Red is taken to a deserted building for interrogation.Garrick has Red suspended by his arms and a doctor injects Red with a drug to heighten his sensitivity to pain. After Alan Fitch finishes questioning Red, Garrick asks if he can kill Red. Fitch is initially unsure, but Garrick convinces him to let him kill Red. Garrick approaches Red and taunts Red by saying that after he has killed Red he will go after Liz. Garrick then asks if Red is actually feeling something. As Red plunges the scissors into the back of Garrick's neck he replies "regret".

William Sadler

Red also goes to pay his respects, but smothers Sam to death when Sam tries to call Lizzie and tell her a secret about her biological father. Red later states that Sam was very sick and confused otherwise he would never have tried to tell her a secret that was too dangerous and that had not been his secret to share.

4. Madeline Pratt
Jennifer Ehle

Behind the facade, she forms relationships and affiliations with powerful, influential people and then uses those connections to commit million dollar heists. Madeline enlists Red's help in stealing a statue called the Effigy of Ashtart in the Syrian embassy. The statue secretly contains coordinates for Soviet nuclear detonation codes, which has the interest of the Russian Mob. Red enlists Liz's aid in the operation, only for the pair to be double-crossed by Madeline. Faking their capture, Red succeeds in getting the location of the Effigy and the coordinates from Madeline. The statue is secured and one of Pratt's allies is arrested. Madeline is able to free herself and steals a precious painting from Red.

5. Diane Fowler
Jane Alexander

United States Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division / Cabal operative

At her initial meeting with Harold Cooper regarding Raymond Reddington, she is very resistant that Red should receive special treatment. It is only at the second meeting, that she reluctantly agrees to sign off on Red's deal. She adds that she wants Meera Malik on the team as her personal representative. When Red was kidnapped by Anslo Garrick, Fowler was enraged and disbanded the task force. Part of the reason was that she knew the FBI had a double agent within the ranks. She later reactivated it when it was discovered that the people behind the raid had been conducting surveillance on the FBI. Red meets with her after learning she is the real mole. Fowler first attempts to bargain with Red and then resorts to threats, but Red knows her death will not lead to further retaliation from Alan Fitch. When she offers to tell Red what happened to his family, he merely remarks that if she knows what happened then someone else also knows it too. Red then shoots and kills her and calls Kate Kaplan to clean up and dispose of the body.

Later, Connolly is appointed Attorney General. When Liz is framed for the assassination of a U.S. Senator, Connolly forces Cooper on administrative leave for keeping Liz from being questioned. They threaten to give evidence proving his corruption to the FBI unless Liz is cleared of her charges, Karakurt is charged for the crimes, Cooper is reinstated, Charlene is released, and Red is left alone. Connolly tells them that the Post Office will be painted out as a rogue unit and its members prosecuted. That man is Smokey Putnam, and though he is not a Blacklister like the Post Office needs, he will provide what Red needs: rent money. Red and Liz go looking for Smokey in Kentucky. There they meet two carnies who speak in a secret carnie language. They say they don’t know where Smokey is now, but they think it couldn’t have just been him embezzling the money because his boss Ms. Hawkins always counted the books, and she’s the one who cut the deal to testify against Smokey. Liz spots a photo of Smokey and a woman who turns out to be his girlfriend, Tammy Lynn. Tammy Lynn’s ceiling, upon inquiry via a few of Red’s carefully shot bullets, turns out to contain Smokey Putnam. And that was the money Smokey decided to run off with. He tells Red if they just let him go, he’ll happily write him a check for his 40 grand because if they turn him in and he’s convicted, he will most certainly be killed by the cartel in prison. Red says no dice, but since their car was rammed to smithereens, he does treat Smokey and Liz to a bus ride to the Cincinnati Amtrak station. Unfortunately, the cartel creeps are listening in to the phone call Red makes to his boss and intersect them in Cincinnati. Red knows exactly where they’ll take Smokey as, in a ploy to gain his freedom, Smokey told Red where he’d hidden the embezzled cash. Red hot-wires a car, and they intercept the cartel in a warehouse in Richmond. Red tells him if he takes his money and leaves them, then Smokey will keep the cartel’s name out of his mouth in the trial. If he doesn’t take the money and leave, Red will shoot him. The cartel takes the money. Smokey seems to have endeared himself to Liz, but with Red’s insistence and one more ill-fated escape attempt, Liz helps hand him over to the authorities for his hearing and Red’s payday. Red didn’t tell Liz that the plan all along was to pay off a guard at Ms. Hawkins’ prison to put her into a fake prison transport vehicle, delivering her to Red rather than to the courthouse to testify against Smokey. That at some point in this caper, Red came up with a plan to make Ms. Hawkins, a top-notch money launderer, and Smokey, a logistics and tactics expert of carnie proportions, the first new team members of his new criminal empire.

5. Dr. Sharon Fulton
Martha Plimpton

Dr. Sharon Fulton is a psychiatrist working for the FBI. She needs to determine if Liz is ready to return back to work after Tom's death and her coma. Dr. Fulton tells Liz that she’s holding back, and she’s afraid of admitting stuff to Fulton and to herself. She says that until Liz is ready to do a profile on herself, as she would a subject, she can’t approve of her reinstatement. When Liz is after the Capricorn killer, he gets her alone in a cabin and Dr. Fulton walks out with something she wants to share. Liz is utterly confused by this. Dr. Fulton starts explaining how she kills serial killers and wants Liz on her side. Dr. Fulton wants her to kill a man that was a part of an old case of hers that killed a kid with a pillow and in return will give her reinstatement to the FBI. Liz refuses. Quickly Ressler and Samar arrive as Dr. Fulton rushes to the woods unseen. Liz catches up with her ready to report what happened but alas decides to let Dr. Fulton escape.

Thanks for the new thread, Miranda

I still love the OP so much and I just realized that we have to decide on our season 5 favorite ones

You're welcome. I realized the same thing. So I guess we have to make a list so we can choose our top 5.

Definitely a list needed... Hm, maybe I'll start it right away.

Joe 'Smokey' Putnum
Henry Prescott
Heddie Hawkins
(Lena Mercer)
Pete McGee
Ian Garvey
Detective Singleton
(Bobby Navarro)
Dr. Sharon Fulton
(Earl Fagen)
Lillian Roth aka Jennifer Reddington

I liked Smokey. I liked his cut scene with Red.

I really liked Smokey as well.

The ones for me that should really be on the list are Garvey, Prescott and Det. Singleton.

For me it's really hard because I think Jennifer should be on the list as well (or we save her for next season)... It's an option. And the therapist should be on it, too.

I think Jennifer should be on the list as well but I do think that she might have a way bigger role next season so she might be better on the S6 list?

Let's each make a top 5 and see which ones are the same and make a top 5 like that?

I totally agree, we keep Jennifer for season 6

Okay, it's hard for me, really... But I would go with these ones:
- Henry Prescott
- Ian Garvey
- Detective Singleton
- Joe 'Smokey' Putnum
- Dr. Sharon Fulton (although I was pondering if we should keep her for season 6 - in the hopes she will return - and therefore add Heddie Hawkins I'm really unsure.)

I agree with your list kris. It's kind too. Although the if we take the dr off, I can't think of anyone to replace her with.

Ya know I can't remember anyone's names but I did like the guy that worked for the post office that started working for Red and the guy who could make you look like anyone.

You mean Mr. Raleigh Sinclair Marilyn?

I totally agree with your list as well Kris. I am just not sure about Dr. Fulton.. but I don't know who else to put on the list either so I am all for that list.

Yeah DR Raleigh Sinclair.

And then the post office guy who pretended to be Red. The guy Red accidentally shot. Reds other new team member. Although I will always miss Baz.

oh yes! Anthony! How can we forget about Anthony! He should be on the list too, don't you think? I mean he helped bring down Garvey.. so he could be on the list instead of Dr. Fulton.

Why Anthony??? Heddie Hawkins appeared a lot more and she is the woman with the curly hair in her team. And honestly, I liked Dr. Fulton a lot better because she has a really interesting role. All of Red's new team members I can't stand None of them tbh.
