Yeah I think so. They trust they have seems like the kind you have with someone you know 100% has your back which I think for people like Red means there has to be some life saving involved.

yes I agree it was You could really tell that they were very close like brother's. Until this moment I had no idea that their bond was so close. It just seemed like Dembe was your average body guard before this scene.

I believe it was episode 1x02 "The Freelancer" where we find out that Dembe was once in a slavery ring? Remember when Red killed that woman who was kidnapping young girls and selling them into a sex slavery ring and near the end they showed Dembe from the back with no shirt on and he had the same scarring mark as one of the victims?
I wonder if that somehow ties into how Red and Dembe met? Red and this woman obviously knew each other from the past but I can't remember if we were told how or why. Idk, I have to watch it again... Also, what I really love about Red & Dembe is how their lives are so crazy most of the time, they're either getting shot at or kidnapped or planning heists and taking down their rivals, etc. but when they're at home they're just hanging out, playing chess, watching old tv shows, just normal everyday buddy stuff It's very endearing. __________________

Hopefully we'll get some more background on how these two met in S2.

They didn't say if that's how Red & Dembe met, but he did have the same scar/branding as the girl who was a victim of the trafficking ring. And Floriana mentioned to Red that she offered to cut him in once on her business and he turned her down. Later he said to Liz that he despised everything about her because she preyed on the weak and the innocent. Maybe they met back then when Floriana was trying to get Red into business with her. I hope he rescued Dembe from her and that's how they met __________________

I am just really glad that the writer's are starting to show us the Red/Dembe relationship. I hope that they continue developing their relationship through out the series.
