Never trust a criminal until you have to...

Raymond "Red" Reddington, a former government agent, attended the United States Naval Academy graduating top of his class at the age of 24 and was being groomed for Admiral when he disappeared while coming home to visit his family for Christmas in 1990. 4 years later, he resurfaced, selling classified documents to the enemy. Over the next 20 years he built a syndicate of contacts: Spies, thieves, smugglers,
drug dealers, people smugglers, human traffickers, arms dealers, forgers, hackers, mercenaries, and assassins. Eventually he went from just selling secrets to also starting wars, toppling governments and influencing geo-politics to suit his needs. He became known as "The Concierge of Crime" due to his ability to arrange deals between the various black market factions. He willfully surrenders to the FBI and provides information on a roster of criminals that he refers to as "The Blacklist." Dangerous criminals who are so careful to avoid leaving any traces behind that the FBI has not even detected their existence. His ethics are somewhat murky, and he espouses the use of some crimes in the service of "the greater good".
He uses his arrangement with the FBI to pursue his own secret agenda.

I'm so relieved that we're all on the same page when it comes to who Red really is. Or lets not say who he is but what he is like. That he is a good guy.

I was really mad at him after the season finale because I felt like I had been lied to for 5y years but my anger is gone now. Don't know how it will be when the show returns though.

I was super mad at him as well after the season finale. But I'll give him the benefit of a doubt. I still hope it all makes sense when we find out the truth. Besides, I'm intrigued to find out who he really is.

It's funny how we can get so angry with a tv character. We invest so much of ourselves in them.

But it's so annoying when you love this character so much and then it gets destroyed, you know... You really invest, five years in case of Red to be so disappointed in the end

I know you were disappointed by him in the finale but I truly hope that learning his backstory will make you love him more.

That's what I hope for, too. And I still believe that he's a good man, so that's something, right? I was just so disappointed by him pretending to be somebody that he actually isn't. He was lying to Liz the whole time. That's what I hated so much. He was even lying about being her father which was the worst for me.

But I hope for some really great stuff to come

I totally agree with you on your last post Kris. I am very curious to find out who he really is but the fact that he lied was the hardest for me. Exactly because I am so invested in this character.

Honestly Liz never should have believed he was her father. You know that's my biggest complaint. He told her too many times that he wasn't. And she remembered killing her father.

She should have had questions the minute Cooper handed her the DNA results. It should have triggered her to realize there was a lie somewhere. That's when she should have started her investigation.
