Donald Ressler spent his last five years hunting down Raymond Reddington, a criminal and #4 on the FBI's most wanted list, with no success. Until on day, Raymond Reddington surrenders himself and a black OPs is forced to work with him. Since Donald Ressler is a part of that special OPs team he now has to work with Raymond Reddington, which isn't easy for him. There is a change in their dynamic, that reaches it's heights when Red saves Ressler's life.

— s e a s o n one —

Ressler: "Live it up pal. As soon as this is over you are headed back to a blacksite."
Episode 1x01

Ressler: "You surrendered and infiltrated the FBI to get at our intelligence?"
Red: "I certainly don't want your intelligence Agent Ressler. I am quite happy with my own."
Episode 1x01

Ressler: "We have our own list."
Red: "Agent Ressler please, we all know you're top ten is little more than a publicity campaign. It's a popularity contest at best."
Episode 1x01

Ressler: "You two pen pals? You guys send each other coded emails?
Red: "I don't have email or a phone or an address. I prefer to handle my business face to face."
Episode 1x02

Red: "Not bad for a days work. Let's celebrate. Hey Donald, how about that cheesecart?"
Episode 1x02

Red: "Your witness is dead. You lost Lorca and he took Agent Keen.
I'd say my meeting with Lorca might the equivalent to you falling on your ass and landing in a pile of christmas."
Episode 1x04

Red: "You are gonna have to just trust me."
Ressler: "I'll never trust you. You know why?"
Red: "Because after tracking me for years you've come up with one undeniable truth.
I only do what is good for me and that is a person you can trust Donald."
Episode 1x04

Ressler: "Every time you meet someone ends up dead."
Red: "We've gotten off to a rocky start."
Episode 1x05

Red: "Why not let them have me Donald? I'll likely be tortured for weeks and left to rot until they finally daim to put a bullet in my skull. Wouldn't that please you?
Ressler: "You’re an adjunct informant for the FBI, Reddington. That means you’re my responsibility.
That means I fight for your life regardless of how badly I want to take it."
Episode 1x09

Ressler: "Why the hell are you doing this? It's obvious I hate your guts and I can't image you hold a whole lot of one for me. Especially after hearing about Brussels."
Red: "I knew about Brussels."
Ressler: "Then why save me?"
Red: "Because that's what you do when someone is dying in front of you"
Episode 1x09

Red: "What happened to Audrey Bidwell?"
Ressler: "She left me."
Red: "You were engaged."
Ressler: "To her yeah. It's my engagement with you that ended that relationship.
Five years I chased you. Five years trying to make my name. Look where it's gotten me."
Episode 1x09

Red: Have you ever sailed across the ocean Donald? On a sailboat, surrounded by sea with no land in sight, without even the possibility of sighting land for days to come? To stand at the helm of your destiny. I want that, one more time. I want to be in the Piazza del Campo in Siena. To feel the surge as 10 racehorses go thundering by. I want another meal in Paris, at L'Ambroisie, at the Place des Vosges. I want another bottle of wine. And then another. I want the warmth of a woman and a cool set of sheets. One more night of jazz at the Vanguard. I want to stand on the summits and smoke Cubans and feel the sun on my face for as long as I can. Walk on the Wall again. Climb the Tower. Ride the River. Stare at the Frescos.
I want to sit in the garden and read one more good book. Most of all I want to sleep. I want to sleep like I slept when I was a boy. Give me that, just one time. That's why I won't allow that punk out there to get the best of me, let alone the last of me."
Episode 1x09

Ressler: "What are you gonna do? Are you gonna kill me? You just saved my life."
Red: "Circumstances have changed Donald.
If you can't save her, you are of no use to me whatsoever. Look at me! Agent Keen will die. Now is the time."
Episode 1x10

Red: "Donald, I understand how you feel. Beneath the iron and rustic exterior beats the heart of a man swimming in immeasurable grief.
I am truly sorry about Audrey. There are few that understand love and loss more than I."
Ressler: "I'm glad you understand where is he?"
Red: "Let me tell you something that someone much wiser than I told me in a similar moment in my life. Go home. Turn back from his and go home. It may seem like the hardest thing in the world but it is profoundly easier than what you are contemplating."
Ressler: "I'm not turning back."
Episode 1x16

Red: "Agent Ressler, once you cross over there are things in the darkness that can keep your heart from ever feeling the light again.'
Ressler: "All I feel is hate."
Episode 1x16

Red: "Donald, I want you to know that I do understand how you feel. There is nothing that can take the pain away. But eventually, you will find a way to live with it. There will be nightmares. And every day when you wake up it will be the first thing you think about, until one day it will be the second thing."
Episode 1x16

— s e a s o n two —

Red: "Agent Keen is late."
Ressler: "She is having room service. Are you in the dog house?
Red: "That's a shame. She is gonna miss the most delicious baklava."
Episode 2x11

Red: "Well, giving your new entourage I gather you may need my help to attend."
Ressler: "Actually, I think we got that covered."
Episode 2x11

Ressler: "I'm coming with you."
Red: "No you are not."
Ressler: "She is my partner. You might need a hand from this side of the law to clear her name."
Red: "You open your mouth Donald and hay flies out. You look and feel and smell like a cop. You are what you are. It's admirable but this is my world and you're a tourist.
You blink wrong and we are both dead and your partner goes to prison."
Ressler: "I'll keep my mouth shut and stay out of the way."
Episode 2x16

— s e a s o n three —

Ressler: "So, what do you want? 'Cause you only give to get."
Red: "All I want is your word as a man of honor."
Ressler: "My word?"
Red: "You know Elizabeth. You know she's not a Russian spy or a traitor or a terrorist. You know that's not who she is."
Ressler: "Doesn't matter what I know."
Red: "If you catch her, it will. It will matter a great deal. What you know about her, what you feel about her could make all the difference.
So, my offer. One blacklister in exchange for your word that you will give her the benefit of every doubt. Can you do that, Donald? Can you give me your word?
Ressler: "Yes."
Episode 3x01

Ressler: "Hey, Reddington. I will find you."
Red: "You know, as my father used to say to me, just because you've been bumped up to first chair in the orchestra doesn't mean you can compose a symphony."
Episode 3x01

Red: "Donald, you cannot let Agent Keen leave the embassy."
Ressler: "Oh, you want a favor? How about you come down here and ask him personally?"
Red: "Her life depends on it."
Ressler: "Cause I'd be more inclined to help if I had you in cuffs."
Red: "You can't let her leave."
Ressler: "You're preaching to the choir cause she's already gone."
Red: "I received direct confirmation from the Russian Ambassador that Agent Keen's transfer was authorized by a high-level apparatchik in the Federal Tariff Service, a man named Vladimir Vitsin.
The same man who signed the paperwork facilitating Karakurt's entry into the United States."
Ressler: He's an operative for the Cabal."
Red: "Any move he makes is in service to their agenda. They're not transporting Agent Keen to Moscow for debriefing. The second she gets on that plane..."
Ressler: "She's dead."
Red: "You need to stop that convoy."
Episode 3x02

Red: "I'm very disappointed, Donald. I would've expected you of all people would've understood that when I make a demand, it's just that. Stalling is not tolerated.
Ressler: "We're doing the best we can, all right?"
Red: "Why isn't the power back on? Where's my armored vehicle?"
Ressler: "We're working on it."
Red: "Work harder. If the power isn't back in 60 seconds, I'm gonna start shooting people. Your time starts now."
Episode 3x02

Red: "Fold your hands in front of you. Walk. An assassin has targeted Agent Keen."
Ressler: "If we haven't found her, he won't."
Red: "He's better than you. He's better than me. That's why I need your help to protect her."
Ressler: "I thought that's what your job was."
Red: "Well, I failed at that. Turn around. I'm a little rusty in the 12 steps, but if I'm not mistaken, step 9 is making amends. I can't do that without you."
Ressler: "I suggest you start with step 4 and make a searching and fearless moral inventory of yourself. "
Red: "I admire the way you're dealing with your addiction, Donald. I tried NA once after an opium den in Kuala Lumpur got the best of me.
Didn't stick. I couldn't get past the requirement to believe in a power greater than myself."
Episode 3x05

Red: "Where is she?"
Ressler: "You don't have to worry about Keen's safety. I've taken measures to..."
Red: "Your measures will fail. Mine won't"
Ressler: "So now you're gonna share your plan with me? Now that I have arrested your partner in crime? Face it Reddington, I beat you."
Red: "There are no beatings here Donald. No winners or losers. There is only agent Keen's life. I have been working on a meticulous campaign to clear her name but I need a day to put one final piece in place."
Ressler: "Go for it. You know where we'll be."
Red: "I wish that were true. But you are about to witness the full force of a shadow government working in concert to crush you.
And know that they know you have Elizabeth, they will stop at nothing to steal her. You and agents Navabi and Mojtabai must remain by her side and guard her with your lives until you hear from me again."
Ressler: "Well thanks to you, Navabi is no longer a member of this Task Force."
Red: "Than it's all on you Donald. Keep them away from agent Keen and Donald, I assume you have Dembe and your being hospitable."
Episode 3x09

Red: "Agent Ressler, how is our girl?
Ressler: "You were right. I can't protect her."
Red: "Slow down. Tell me what's happening."
Ressler: "Look, I can't move Keen to the courthouse for another two hours but the Director is here with his own transfer order.
It's just luck that he hasn't been able to break into that box yet."
Red: "I've always believed luck to be a function of intent. In this case mine. When these dark clouds were gathering,
I took measures to keep agent Keen safe to ride out the storm. Are you ready to do your part now?"
Ressler: "I won't let them have her."
Red: "I'll take that as a yes. The best way you can help is by continuing to guard Elizabeth and when the time comes make sure Karakurt reaches the FBI safely."
Ressler: "Karakurt? The Russian? What does he have to do with this?"
Red: "He's agreed to confess his sins to the US government including the ones he committed on behalf of the Cabal to frame agent Keen.
Cooper and Tom Keen are holding Karakurt at a cabin near Lake Yvonne. I can have them in the city within the hour."
Ressler: "Cooper and Tom?"
Red: "He tried to tell you Donald. You didn't listen. Apparently you have a disregard for Tom Keen that exceeds even my own.
I have to meet someone. Remember guard Elizabeth and keep Karakurt alive."
Episode 3x09

Red: "Agent Ressler, aren't you the dog on a scent?"
Ressler: "There was one empty building with a line of sight to the front and one to the back. Started with the front."
Red: "You spoke to Harold."
Ressler: "Reddington, grab the guy, put him in a hole, get what you need from him, but don't kill Kirk."
Red: "There's nothing I care to take from Alexander Kirk except his life.
Ressler: "Trust me. I want him as badly as you, but I'm not gonna let this happen."
Red: " Oh, this is gonna happen, Donald. This is gonna happen in about 10 minutes."
Episode 3x23

Ressler: "Listen to me. If he pulls that trigger, this building's surrounded in seconds. Not minutes... seconds. There's no getting out."
Red: "Yes, I know."
Ressler: "If Liz were here, she'd tell you not to do this."
Red: "Elizabeth isn't here, though. Is she, Donald?"
Ressler: "Step away. I meant what I said. This isn't gonna happen. I said stand down. Look, Reddington. If you want your man to live, you're gonna tell him to do what I say."
Episode 3x23

Ressler: "All right. Let's everyone take a deep breath. Everybody relax. All right.
Nobody's gonna get hurt. What the hell do you think you're doing? I was willing to fire on your man, and I'm willing to fire on you."
Red: "Yes, I believe that, Donald. But are you willing to die in the process?"
Ressler: "I said step away."
Red: "You want justice for Elizabeth."
Ressler: "Justice, not vengeance."
Red: "In my experience, they're the same."
Ressler: What are you gonna do, Dembe? You gonna shoot me in cold blood?"
Red: "I know how difficult this must be for you, Donald."
Ressler: "I will do this."
Red: "You have faith. I envy that. Justice, integrity, faith in humanity. Nobody embodies those principles more than you.
And I know it must be hard for you to believe that you'll continue to embody those principles even after you watch me do this.
Ressler: "Oh, this isn't about me. This is about the rules. What's right."
Red: "When Elizabeth was a fugitive, you played by the rules, did what you thought was right. But Elizabeth's gone. Alexander Kirk took her away from us, and she's not coming back."
Ressler: "Take your hands off that trigger."
Red: "What do you think's going to happen if you stop me, Donald? That you'll arrest Kirk? That justice will be done?"
Ressler: "Let go of the weapon."
Red: "Do you want a bullet in Alexander Kirk's head or one in mine? Decide now. What's it going to be, Donald?"
Episode 3x23

— s e a s o n four —

Ressler: "We have an ETA on that plane?"
Red: "Your job here is done, Donald."
Ressler: "Like hell it is. I came here to get Keen. I'm not leaving without her."
Red: "You think I'm gonna let you tag along so you can inform the people who kidnapped Elizabeth they have the right to remain silent?
I appreciate your assistance, but I'm not interested in having an ethical debate with you about whether they have the right to consult with an attorney before I put a bullet in their head."
Ressler: "What about that dirtball? I suppose you think, I should be okay with letting him walk."
Red: "It's entirely up to you."
Ressler: "You made a deal with him."
Red: "Yes, in order to save Elizabeth, I made a deal with the devil of the day. I did. You didn't. If you have a problem with that, you've got 12 hours before his ship leaves to do something about it. Otherwise, safe travels home, Donald."
Episode 4x01

Ressler: "What the hell was that all about? Who's Sonia Bloom?"
Red: "Apparently, Adrian Shaw."
Ressler: "You didn't care about The Coroner."
Red: "No, I didn't."
Ressler: "You used us to find him for you so he could tell you about Bloom."
Red: "I don't know what the two of you are so indignant about. I told you about a criminal you had no idea existed, and now he's in your custody.
The Coroner gives you dozens of criminals you thought were dead or missing. Take the win, Donald. You could use one."
Episode 4x06

Ressler: What's going on?
Red: Your prayers have been answered, Donald. Apparently, I'm dying.
Episode 4x15

Red: "Yes. He has something I think you'll find of particular interest. Mr. Prescott, my associate, Frank Sturgeon. I'll need him to confirm the findings."
Ressler: "What is this place?"
Red: "A depository of sorts. Prescott's insurance policies. We're looking for 11-19-15. And here we are."
Ressler: "These have particular interest to me?"
Red: "I'm certain of it. Ready? Dive in."
*Ressler pulls out Wright's body*
Ressler: "Mother of God..."
Red: "Congratulations, Donald. Your hunt for Reven Wright is over."
Episode 4x22

Red: "I'm sorry, Donald, I know you've been longing to prove Hitchin's guilt. But the only way to survive now that you finally have that proof is to trade it away."
Ressler: "You know how I know Hitchin was the killer? Tommy Markin. He was the man who killed my father and got away with it. I told Reven that story, told her that's the reason why I became a cop, to prevent other Tommy Markins from getting away with murder. She was the only one I told, and then she's killed, and Hitchin asks me to look into a suspect. It was like Reven was sending me a message through her killer, begging me to solve this case."
Episode 4x22

— s e a s o n five —

Ressler: "All right. Look, don't touch. Or bid."
Red: "I know the rules, Donald."
Ressler: "Well, humor us and try to follow them."
Episode 5x02

Red: "You know, Donald, before I turned myself in to the FBI, I held people like you in extremely low regard."
Ressler: "Right back at you."
Red: "But I've found your determination to do the right thing, your genuine commitment to the thin blue line that separates order and innocence from the likes of me to be quite admirable."
Ressler: "Why are you telling me this?"
Red: "I want you to know you can count on me if you ever find yourself in as difficult position as Officer McGinnis has put himself in."
Ressler: "Never gonna happen."
Red: "Nevertheless, my offer stands. For the day I hope will never come."
Episode 5x03

Ressler: "How did you know about Prescott?"
Red: "I made it my business to know."
Ressler: "Did you make it your business to know his real name? 'Cause that would come in real handy right about now."
Red: "Why, so you can kill him?"
Ressler: How does The Informant fit into this?
Red: "The Informant is a client of Prescott's. You're Prescott's fixer. I put you on to The Informant so Prescott would ask you to get off."
Ressler: "Why would you do that?"
Red: "As a test. See how far down the rabbit hole you'd fallen. Good news is, you passed. Prescott asked you to look the other way, and you didn't."
Ressler: "Because of that, he's going to destroy me. Thanks for nothing."
Episode 5x10

Ressler: "She knows I'm an agent. We can't go in together."
Red: "As long as you play dirty cop, we'll be fine. Under the circumstances, I think you can manage that, can't you?"
Episode 5x10

Ressler: "I never thanked you for what you did after Audrey died."
Red: "You were preoccupied."
Ressler: "I was crazed. And convinced I should kill the man who shot her. Do you remember what you told me to do?"
Red: "I told you to go home. You didn't."
Ressler: "You said that once you cross over, there are things in the darkness that can keep your heart from ever feeling the light again. I didn't go home,
but I never crossed over. I never thanked you for that."
Red: "Nor should you. Your circumspection afforded me the opportunity to take care of Audrey's killer myself. It was a win-win."
Ressler: "I didn't want Prescott's real name so that I could kill him. I wanted it so I could arrest him."
Red: "He goes to prison, so will you."
Ressler: "I know, but I'm in the darkness, and doing the right thing is the only way I'll ever feel the light again."
Episode 5x10

Red: "I hope you don't take this the wrong way, Donald, but we've been seeing an awful lot of each other."
Ressler: "I made it perfectly clear I wanted Prescott to go to jail. You had him killed!"
Red: "I did."
Ressler: "I never asked for your help."
Red: "With all due respect, I didn't kill Henry Prescott to protect you. I killed him to protect myself. The man knew the nature of my relationship with the FBI,
and I couldn't risk that information coming to light in a public trial."
Ressler: "And my file? You had it removed from Prescott's records before they were taken into custody. Well, I won't trade being under his thumb for being under yours."
Red: "Sins should be buried like the dead. Not that they may be forgotten, but that we may remember them and find our way forward nonetheless. I hope this will help you do just that. Besides, after today, I'd have no reason to think you'd respond to threats, and blackmail is such a nasty business, particularly among friends, don't you think?"
Episode 5x10

Ressler: "So you're telling me that you got a way that you can get this low-life out of this bunker without getting us all killed?
Red: "The elevator."
Ressler: "Oh, the elevator?"
Red: "Oh my god! You had the same idea!"
Episode 5x18

Ressler: "So while you have us running around in circles, what are you going to do?
Red: "I'll be at a lovely little cafe on Rue de Turenne, enjoying what I believe to be the best cup of hot chocolate in all of Paris."
Episode 5x18

Red: "Isn't it funny how things work out? Five years later, and here you are with me in Paris, preparing to steal a wanted man off the elevator.
It's almost as if you didn't try to kill me in Belgrade, all those years ago."
Ressler: "No, it's not."
Red: "Well, either way, if we pull this off, you'll have something to tell the grandkids."
Episode 5x18

Ressler: "You let Mosadek go and now he is double crossing you."
Red: "That's what he thinks he is doing. In actuality he is delivering Ian Garvey to you on a silver platter. You just have to catch him, in the act of killing me. Not after he already has.
Episode 5x18

— s e a s o n six —

Red: "Agent Ressler. My goodness. After all these years, I feel as if we actually know each other."
Ressler: "I know the feeling."
Red: "Have you ever heard of Katarina Rostova?"
Ressler: "Yes. She was a KGB officer."
Red: "Would it surprise you to learn that she and I had quite a complicated history? s*x, drugs, rock 'n' roll. Did I say s*x? s*x."
Ressler: "Almost nothing you do surprises me."
Episode 6x09

Red: "Agent Ressler, was I a good intelligence officer?"
Ressler: "Raymond Reddington was one of the best."
Red: "Sorry? Raymond Reddington was?"
Ressler: "Yes."
Red: "Hated by the KGB?"
Ressler: "Very much so."
Red: "Would they have liked to see him disgraced?
Ressler: "Definitely."
Red: "Mr. Sima asked you if I was a traitor. You hesitated with your answer. Why?"
Ressler: "What difference does it make?"
Red: "Is it because you're uncertain? Or aware of mitigating circumstances that have given you a different opinion of me? About who I am today as opposed to who I once was."
Ressler: "I don't think you want me to answer that."
Red: "Oh, but I do."
Episode 6x09

Red: "Do you recognize the man's voice on the audiotape?"
Ressler: "Yes. It's Alan Fitch. The former Director of National Intelligence. "
Red: "And the woman? Agent Rostova?"
Ressler: "It was Katarina Rostova, yes."
Red: "Why did you bring me this tape?"
Ressler: "Because the government has a legal obligation under Brady v. Maryland to provide the defendant with any exculpatory evidence that can be used in the defense."
Red: "Thank you, Agent Ressler. And may I say you are both everything I dislike about the FBI and everything I admire about it?"
Episode 6x09

Red: "Donald, a word? Elizabeth told me you had a run-in with a few Russians recently."
Ressler: "She told you that?"
Red: "Yes. When you were investigating my identity."
Ressler: "I was looking for information about, Katarina Rostova. I don't know how they found out, but they were anxious to know what I knew."
Red: "Did you get a name?"
Ressler: "No. But a friend of theirs drove a vehicle with diplomatic plates, so I figure some pretty powerful people want answers."
Red: "As for answers, I believe Elizabeth has given you one."
Ressler: She has. And it stays with me."

I really don't know what I shall hope for. :( I am disappointed that Ressler would keep that secret of Liz. What do you think does he think about it?

Fangirl49 03-23-2020 06:41 AM

I couldn’t tell. It didn’t seem to bother him that she was lying to red again

Miranda 03-23-2020 07:16 AM

Exactly. I didn't seem to bother him. He even told Liz to play dumb..

Lauren Helen Graham 03-24-2020 01:37 AM

Yeah, he didn't even care that she has lied to Red again. No thought about that at all, no strange look, nothing.

Fangirl49 03-24-2020 07:37 AM

That bothered me the most.

Lauren Helen Graham 03-25-2020 11:42 PM

It's just as if it's the natural thing to do for her and everybody simply accepts it.

After she almost got red killed, it seems like Ressler would say something about her doing the exact same thing again.

Guess not. I wonder if he just doesn't care or if he thinks that it is Liz's battle and not his..

Yeah, true... It seems he doesn't care either. I'm wondering why all of them never care and never see what went so wrong in the past.

Maybe that's the reason he kind of stays out of it. But I think he has an opinion nevertheless.

Of course he has an opinion. But he shouldn't let Liz drag him into her mess. And I really hope he is smart enough not to let her do that.

I hope he is, too  Right now it doesn't seem as if he cares but I hope he will at some point. I can't imagine it going smooth from now on.

When red learns about Katarina the smooth sailing ship is going to crash

Miranda 03-30-2020 09:53 AM

Yes I think it will crash as well.

I'm wondering if he'll figure out that Ressler knows as well... I still don't believe that Ressler is okay with all the decisions Liz made regarding Katarina. Especially since he is not that fast in trusting people. I can see him questioning it.
