He was born the youngest son of Samwel Zuma. When Dembe's father reported a number of low-ranking operatives of a poaching organization to the authorities, the cartel killed Dembe's father, mother and siblings and sold him to human traffickers. He spent eight years in the world of human trafficking and was enslaved until the age of 14, when Reddington found him half-dead and chained to a pipe in the basement of a brothel in Nairobi. Reddington took care of him, nursed him back to health and made sure he got an education. Dembe eventually got a Bachelor's degree in English Literature, learned to speak four languages fluently and learned six others well enough to get by. Dembe has a daughter, Isabella and a granddaughter.

https://38.media.tumblr.com/b6eccc61...so1_r2_500.gif x "You know, twenty nine years ago, in Sierra Leone, there was a farmer named Samwel Zuma, who had the audacity to identify several low level Mombasa operatives to local authorities. The cartel massacred the entire family. All but the youngest son; he was sold to a local ring of flesh peddlers. The majority of children in those circumstances don’t last longer than nine months. He survived eight years. He was fourteen when I found him. Too old, too tall, too angry and dangerous to be of any further value. He was left to die, chained to a standpipe in a squalored brothel in Nairobi. Branded, barely alive, so I took him. Made him well, saw to his education; he graduated university with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. He speaks four languages fluently and can get by on half a dozen more. He is splendid. His name is Dembe. Dembe Zuma."

Miranda, thanks so much for the new thread! :flowers: I love the title so much and that you put it into Quote of the moment section.
Btw, could we maybe portray Red's quote about Dembe as a quote as well? It somehow looks strange just standing there... The text I mean. Could we make it a quote and let put the episode and who said it underneath, like with the quote of the moment? |
You're welcome. :)
I put these marks "" before and at the end of the quote and I put the episode under it. Is that what you meant or you want me to changer something else? Cause I am not sure if I understood right. |
You understood it completely right, Miranda :D Thanks so much! :flowers: And I love it now. It's for sure a quote now and everybody can see that by looking at it.
|
Love the photos and title quote. Especially the one where he is smiling. Great job.
|
Good. You're welcome. :)
Thanks Susana. I made this today and added it to the OP. :) http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...es/Dembe_1.png |
Yeah! The serious and smiling Dembe/Hisham. Great photo.
|
Miranda, the OP is so amazing. I love the new banner you made  It's so rare we see him laugh, even smile. So this banner is such a beautiful one.
|
Thanks girls. :)
I love to see him smile and that's why I really wanted to use this picture. :) |
It's this BTS picture we got not too long ago, right?
|
Yes it is. I think it is one of the best pictures of Dembe we got. :)
|
Definitely  And I'd love more of these...
There wasn't really much Dembe in the episode, was there? :look: |
There was no Dembe in this episode. :(
Today marks 1 year since I retired from the #FDNY My helmet of 20 years served me well. #Harlem Firefighter Harlem Hilton Engine 69 ✌🏿️ (Hisham posted this 6 days ago.) |
He was in the episode but not a single scene that he wasn't just in the background... Besides, I think he didn't say anything at all, not one word.
Wow, one year already :thud: Time is passing sooo fast! |
Time really goes fast. I recall him announcing he was retiring and now it's been a year already!
