They never got there because Ressler's father refused to get on the pay-roll and so a drug dealer put a bullet in him. It was a trap, set by the crookedest cop of all, Tommy Markin. He never had to face consequences therefore and Ressler believes that his dead would have died for nothing if Ressler wouldn't go by his principles.

    >> Gavin Bruit was Isabella Stone's husband. He was setting up for tax havens in Mauritius. But the Feds got to him. Against the believes of Isabella Stone, Red didn't kill Gavin because he was afraid he'd talk, he helped him walk away from his wife (Isabella) and family to protect them. Believing Red this was the hardest thing that Gavin ever had to do.

   >> The person's name is Ian Garvey. He's responsible for Nik's death, cut off Pete's fingers and now has the suitcase.
2. What's really happening during that flash forward scene, in which Tom seems to be dying by Red's hand? (5x01)
   >> Tom found out about whose bones are in the suitcase and arranges a secret meeting with Liz in their apartment to finally tell her the truth. When she arrives there, Tom is strapped to a chair and some men of a cartel are waiting for Liz to arrive there. These men work for Ian Garvey, who seeks out the apartment as well to get answers from Tom regarding Red's location. Tom won't give it and that's what Garvey stabs him. In the process, Liz gets beaten and badly injures her head on the floor. When Garvey doesn't get any answers, he leaves with the order towards the cartel men to kill Tom and Liz. Red figures out where Tom wanted to meet with Liz, arriving at the apartment and shoots the cartel members. He tries to safe Tom and Liz by getting them into the hospital but for Tom it's too late. He dies the same night while Liz is in a coma for ten months before she wakes up.

   >> The coin actually is a rare 1943 Lincoln penny and the key to a treasure hunt for a hidden fortune. There actually are four of these coins, which are supposed to prove the existence of Federal Reserve Notes, that the U.S. is denying exist. Collectors think the value is in the fact that they were one-off bronze pennies, instead of copper. But Red says what makes them valuable is not that they’re a mistake, but that there is a code put there by the man who minted them. A map to a financial holy grail of lost Federal Reserve Notes, redeemable upon request. In the end Red finds out that the pennies are Abraham Sterns (the blacklister of the week) inheritance: the man who minted the four bronze pennies was Stern’s father. Stern Sr. worked at the Denver Mint and had big dreams of becoming a master engraver. But when the Federal Reserve Notes went missing, and Stern’s father was suspected but unable to be charged, he was demoted, forced to work in the boiler room. Eventually, when the Mint made security upgrades in 1943, he was let go altogether, his dreams dashed. So, when Stern’s father died, leaving behind four bronze pennies for his son, Stern considered his father a failure and spent the pennies on Fireballs. When the will executor gave him a letter from his father a month later, explaining the value in the pennies, he made it his life’s mission to find them again. With Stern and Red acting as a makeshift team, Stern puts his Diane Kruger character on decoding the pennies. He tells them that Lincoln’s face on the pennies is a topographical representation of a mountain range, and that when you layer the images of each penny over each other, it creates a grid that clearly depicts…Denver. And when those pennies are layered, the slight flaws on the E Pluribus Unum inscription reveal a word: BOILER ROOM. When they get into the boiler room it is clear that Stern’s father did steal the Notes, he did hide them under the Treasury’s noses, and he did leave his son a map to an unimaginable fortune. Just though Red in the end gets his hands on them.

   >> Oleander was the name of a Russian operative, active during the cold war. A few years ago the CIA thought he might be living in the United States under an assumed name, that was never proven... No charges were ever filed. Dominique Wilkinson is the assumed name, which turned out to be Dom.

   >> He in general needs a man with these talents for his team. There was no specific plan that he kept him around for. In episode 5x15 Red's money laundry in the animal shelter was about to be blown and he wanted the arsonist to destroy it all. Gladly it didn't have to come to this. He gave him a book, told him to control his talent and be available for future work.

   >> It's similar to the purpose of the arsonist. Red was a fan of Sinclair's talents and wanted to keep him in his team. In episode 5x19 they needed him to 'copy' Garvey to attend a meeting while Garvey was abducted by Red already.

   >> The Kuwait incident happened when Cooper was still very young and stationed in there in this early Navy years. He was friends with another Navy soldier back then, called Daniel Hutton. One day young Daniel Hutton was putting “medical supplies” in a car as the cover of the box fell off and money was revealed. Young Cooper walked over and told Hutton to put the box in the car and leave it alone. But he didn't. Young Hutton told young Cooper he had told their superiors, and Cooper said Hutton made the situation worse. Their car was ambushed and young Hutton was taken. Young Cooper trying to radio for help was too late. It was the Kurdish that got to him. Young Cooper confronted his captain and he told him that young Hutton had tried to expose the mission and that he was executed by the Kurdish. In the next moment the captain tells Cooper that he had him recommended for the Navy Cross (which he even received). Young Cooper was convinced that his captain had young Hutton executed but he told him that he just received orders following them and suggested young Cooper to do the same.
   Long story short, Cooper was a coward back then that wasn’t willing to stand with Hutton because someone on the higher chain of command made an order.

   >> Patrick is a young man, whose parents were killed when he was still really young through the people that were after Katarina Rostova. So Katarina swore to protect him, to care about him and do everything that's necessary to keep him safe. One day he started suffering a disease that couldn't be healed so Katarina had a doctor research for a cure. He found one and Patrick was healed.

We get back to our crazy time line of the past. I can't even figure out how old Dembe should be if Red met him at 15 at some point in the 25 years.

But I always figured Katarina committed suicide in a fairly quick time frame after the fire.

We do know Kaplan saw a reference to it on her flashback episode. I wonder if that newspaper had a date.

Bare with me. I know this is a lot to take in. Katarina is still alive. It is the only possible solution to most of the questions we still have.

Why would the imposter choose to impersonate Reddington?

Why did Katarina arrange for Red to have the surgery?

How does the imposter know about the very intimate goings on at the beach house?

How does the imposter know about Katarina getting blackmailed?

All of these question and many more are answered by: The imposter is Katarina.

When you put it like that it sounds plausible. But that doesn't answer the question of why Katarina arranged for Red to get the surgery. Why did he have to become Raymond Reddington?

So this is where you guys speculate about the Blacklist I've been posting in the Minster D episode. I managed to refine it and will post it here.

Readington is James Spader's character and Deadington is what I call the corpes.

My theory based on the Minister D episode is that Katerina tried to Ruin Raymond Deadington things go bad. Deadington gets the upperhand and starts beating Katerina (little Lizzie kills him or a cabal operative/friend/Handler Kills him. Deadington is skeleton but they don't find out where Deadington hid the Fulcrum. Fitch gets blackmailed so he sends Katerina and friend to go after Minister D. Katerina fails to acquire the blackmail tape. She hides with Masha to Alexander Kirk.

Cabal finds out about the exposure so the Cabal Decides to kill Katerina and Fitch. To protect themselves Katerina and Fitch get the cabal operative/friend/Handler to Dr. Kohler and come out to play the part of Reddington with the Fulcrum to keep them safe from the Cabal. Fitch help convince the Cabal that Red has the Fulcrum. It is a bluff, since we know Red did not have the Fulcrum until the series after the started, but it gives them time to find the Fulcrum.

The Cabal got impatient and unleashed Berlin. Berlin is not Cabal but He had the resources to take on Reddington. If Berlin beats Red No more problems for the Cabal; if Berlin failed the Cabal has deniability. Berlin finds out about Elizabeth. Seeing Liz in danger Red decides to walk into FBI headquarters.

I am not sure who Red is though I think he was Katerina's Ressler or Deadington's Ressler.
Katerina's Ressler in the sense he was Katerina's partner, friend, will they won't they get together. or Deadington's Ressler- He was an FBI agent/government agent investigating Deadington. He saw Deadington beating up Katerina and he kills him.

I was rewatching old episodes a few weeks ago and before Red walks into the FBI offices his associate asks him how it feels to be home? Was he home because he was back in the US or was he Home because he used to be a highly decorated FBI agent?

I think he was investigating Deadington because if we believe that Deadington had the Fulcrum before he died how did it end up in the hands of the Blacklister in the Kenyon Family. Unless Deadington was dealing with criminals. (my initial thought was he was an arms dealer) It just hit me..I wonder if Deadington was a sympathizer of the Kenyon Family. (the Kenyon family was polygamous Cult group that Fathers married their daughters) Maybe part of that is why Some of Liz's memories were erased. Liz said she killed Reddington did she ever ask herself why she killed her dad? I just believe that Red is protecting Lizzy and Deadington isn't the great saint we think he was. Red is many things but over the course of the series we know he protects children and women.

That is my theory about who Red is and what he is to Katerina.

Jack, there is a "list" thread where we talk about the numbers and blacklisters and we have speculated there about the number one blacklister. That is my thought but Miranda and if kris can tell you for sure.

Acvar you make a great many good points. But Katarina being Red is not my theory. I know this show does a lot with DNA and fingerprint changes. But taking a petite woman with a feminine voice and turning her into a burly man with a voice like James is too much for me.

Don't get me wrong, with this show, I can agree to it being a possibility. It's just not a possibility for me.

I firmly believe our Reds Christmas story and believe he had a family that he found murdered on Christmas Eve and that is what I think drove him to this.

Jack love your theory. It has parts I agree and parts I don't. It will be great to see how the writers work everything out and how it all plays together.

I love your idea about Reds being home comment referring to the FBI. I always thought America. But I think that was wrong. Red has always moved freely. So I agree with you that he meant FBI. I actually see him as being just as straight laced as Ressler I think they were just alike before Red had to change. I think Red was investigating all of this case. I think that's how he got involved.

Yeah I don't think it is feasible in the real world, but the blacklist is not the real world. I really don't like the theory, but they are beating it over our head with a giant clue-stick with all the reveals they are putting out this season.
