I doubt the show is coming back, but if it does I hope they push Cidre out and let David Jacobs more input. He was spot on about the new show focusing more on plot movement and shocks than on character development. The new Twin Peaks is already sounding much better than the new Dallas because they've got David Lynch writing and directing all episodes, plus Showtime is a much better network than TNT.

Though to be fair, the original Twin Peaks was a more prestige show compared to the original Dallas (and I even preferred Knots Landing, personally), but neither show was as mainstream and popular as Dallas. BUT if TP is a success, it will only highlight TNT's mistake to not let in input from the original creators of this show. Cidre made a huge mistake in season 3 when she put the Ewings in the back burner in favor of her "Cane" ripoff with the Mexican drugs/cartel storyline -- there was a reason that show was canceled.

I think if Dallas had been on a better network from the start, like CBS it would have standed a much better chance. Look at how well H50 is doing. 5th season and they do full seasons, not the short 13-15 episode seasons.

You do bring up a good point. Plus, TNT dropped the ball with promoting the show. I seem to remember a lot more promotion in the beginning versus the end.

I have my fingers crossed someone else picks up the show!

They really did do a bad job of promoting it. I have several friends and family members who didn't know it existed.

I don't know about TNT, but Bravo kept showing the SAME commercial all season long...it was getting annoying as hell!.

TNT showed different promos, but not ever when I had the channel on. They needed to do more print advertising and what not.

^ Yeah. I remember before the first two season premieres, I could always find an ad in a magazine for Dallas. This season I think I saw one. It also seemed like they were promoting their other shows more.

I think they gave up on the show after Larry passed away.

ICAM!! Placing her at the helm was a great mistake. She did not even watch the original series which boggles my mind. I think the start was having JR Ewing dying in some seedy Mexican hotel instead if in Dallas or like Jock serving his country.

I also did not care about the whole Mexican Cartel mess, or the Ramos family and of course Elena's stupid revenge.

So if they can try and bring it back, leave Cynthia Cidre out of hit.

The Cartel stuff was absolute nonsense.

And let's not forget rewriting history and destroying characters like Cliff Barnes. They made him a monster in this. The Cliff Barnes in the original was a lot of things but what they did to him was awful. Planting a bomb on that platform was bad enough but with his pregnant daughter standing there was evil. Also, we know that Jock did not cheat Digger and the Barnes-Ewing Feud ended when Cliff met with Ellie at the park.

It was nice to see Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and Ken Kercheval one last time in their roles but this was terrible. And let's not forget the Ewings had met Cliff's daughter already.

^ Agreed! Cliff was always a favorite of mine (even if he was always gunning for JR) He was sneaky and did a few dirty moves along the way but never never would he risk Pamela's life like that, and everybody else that was on that rig.
