That was probably to keep us guessing.

He might end up in the hospital for awhile but I doubt they'd injure him to badly. If he is in the hospital it would be nice if Pamela visited him. (Providing she doesn't end up in the hospital for too long

I would really like to see them at least become friends. They went through so much together and the writers shoved all of it aside like it didn't matter

No, it doesn't seem awkward, but if you started watching recently without watching the first two seasons, you would never even know they had been married. Which I think is a huge mistake.
