I actually liked more when he didn't have his hair as long as now, like in the first couple of episodes he appeared in s1.

I totally agree with that and I think he always puts Callie first, like when she ran away he called Lena and Stef up to let them know she was okay and he broke up with her so she could explore her feelings for Brandon. I don't think Callie loves Brandon she only turns to him when she is sad and uses him as an emotional crutch.
