I think she's changed. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. She endured so much horribles in her life. It made her a stronger character. And she needs to be for her children and for herself.

I think for many her moving on means she is unloving Derek but it is not that at all.

They do move on but they never forget. Derek was a huge part of her life and even tho she is moving on nobody can take his place. She'll love again but differently. They had something special. Doesn't mean she can't be happy again tho.

People need to remember that. And i dont think Mer would even want to forget him and everything about him. I mean how can she?

While im not thrilled with the timing of this dating story for Mer, i knew eventually, it will happen.

She will never forget him. I am glad that they are showing her like this, it's sooo freaking real. The hesitation, the feelings like last episode, wanting to try and move forward, but so scared and feels like she's cheating. Cancelling etc.. Ellen plays it so good, the emotions written all over her face.

She's evolved naturally as a character over the years. She continually becomes stronger and has since the show began. But knowing what she went through as a child she really was strong to begin with. Over the course of the show, falling in love with Derek made her stronger, becoming a mother made her stronger, and she has certainly become stronger as a doctor. Not to mention the tragedies she has endured.

But people saying she is somehow unrecognizable? People having the nerve to say she isn't the same person Derek fell in love with? That's both inaccurate and SO insulting to both the character and Ellen's portrayal of her. And this from people who once claimed to love Meredith. Quite honestly, the minute Derek died they dropped her like a hot potato and made sure to tweet that to Ellen (which is why Ellen's statements in interviews are SO spot on - she knows the ridiculous things people said ... that the show is nothing without Patrick - how did people think that would make her feel?).

Meredith Grey is not unrecognizable and she IS fundamentally the same character who has evolved as expected. It's unfortunate the people saying otherwise are those who also claim to not watch the show. The bottom line is, they're being disrespectful and critical of her for bitter reasons. This is crazy to me ... it would seem to me that Derek's widow and the woman he loved until his dying breath would be someone they would have compassion for and root for. :/
