WrestleMania 23 Rumors, Spec, And Such...

It's early and all, but it would seem, according to somewhat reliable sources, three matches are pretty much already in the works.

Quote:
The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer (11/27) reports that Vince McMahon has already decided on Batista vs Undertaker as one of the headline matches for next year's show. The match will be billed as "World Title vs Wrestlemania Winning Streak".

Probably the most significant thing written is that Batista is the one planned to get the win, at this point. Is Batista the right man to end The Undertaker's 15+ year WrestleMania undefeated streak? After last night's lackluster performance from "The Animal", I've got my doubts. However - there's no doubt that these two are the biggest draws on the brand and putting them together does make sense.

Mick Foley was backstage at Friday's Ring of Honor event in Long Island, New York. Foley looked to be in better shape than the last time he was seen on WWE television as he's lost a bit of weight, perhaps in preparation for his eventual WWE return. He is expected to have a storyline with Vince McMahon for a match at WrestleMania.

Apparently it's now clear that Hogan v. Stone Cold Steve Austin is not going to happen at Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit, so Hogan has another plan up his sleeve.

PW Insider reports that he's been pitching the idea of a Hogan v. Big Show match instead. It's the 20 year anniversary of his match against Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania III, so Hogan feels that this is a good time to wrestle Big Show. It does make sense on one level, but I wonder what kind of a match these two could even pull off together.

Hogan and Show (Paul Wight) are actually good friends, so I'm sure Show wouldn't mind doing the job. And in the end, that's all that matters to the Hulkster.

I'm liking the Batista vs Undertaker possible match-up at Wrestlemania. Although I don't see anybody breaking Taker's streak. I'm sure it's in his contract or something. lol

As for Hogan vs Big Show......I hope not. Use Hogan only for promos only not to wrestle anymore.

I hope that Hogan isn't a part of WrestleMania. He shouldn't be in the wrestling ring anymore. Batista and Undertaker could be good.

Taker/Batista's the biggest match SD could do with how things are right now, so I'm fine with it happening. I just can't accept Dave being the one to get that honor of breaking the streak like WON says Vince wants. He's neither a legend deserving of it nor a rising star who would benefit greatly from it.

I'm curious to see what they do with everyone else. They got a lot of people to appease and draw in this year in Detroit; there's got to be a dream match in there somewhere that they can pull...

He'd probably overshadow the match though in that role. If Austin/Hogan is to never happen, he should just show up and pose for five minutes, then get off camera.

- There is talking of booking John Cena against Randy Orton at Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit, Michigan. It’s not official, but this under consideration.

- As previously noted, The Big Show’s contract expires before Wrestlemania. Apparently, the Big Show wants Hulk Hogan to handle negotiations for a possible Wrestlemania match, believing he’ll get a better deal for the former ECW champion.

Cena/Orton is at least new, I guess.

Yea, they don't wanna make HHH or Cena heel, so they're going for Cena/Orton. It could be okay...

Agreed. I love Batista and I'm sure they'd have a decent fued, but no way in hell should he be the one breaking Taker's WM streak. It should never be broken.

God, no more Hogan. I don't ever want to see him wrestle again.

Hulk Hogan is looking to pitch a Hogan & Vince McMahon vs. Big Show & Eric Bischoff match for Wrestlemania 23. If this goes down, the angle would be, "Will Vince turn on Hogan?"
Listen to the Hulkster, WWE.

Since it's all unavoidable, containing him, Vince, and Eric "wrestling" to one match is borderline brilliance.

Since UnsilentMajority and I talked about Khali's role at WM in the Raw thread and this was on PWInsider today, I figured I'd bring it over:

Quote:
Khali was moved to Raw in response to HHH's injury, but not to fill the hole left by him. The plan was indeed for the DX v RKO feud to continue a little longer, and Khali was going to be moved over, but not this soon.

With Big Show looking less and less likely to be able to go at Mania, Khali is now the leading candidate to face Hulk Hogan at Mania. Vince really wants to play off of Wrestlemania 3 with Hogan vs a giant, and now Khali appears to be that man.

Khali was moved to Raw to get more exposure in preparation for the Hogan match. Big Show may still return for this, but with it looking less likely it is now Khali vs Hogan at Mania.
