| The Marine Premiere Diary ![]() All day long, WWE.com will be covering the premiere of “The Marine,” starring WWE Champion John Cena, at the Camp Pendleton Marine base in California. The base is larger than many of the small American towns from which it draws its recruits, accommodating some 60,000 people during the day. Our running diary will capture all the highlights of the day’s events, so be sure to check back for more updates. 6:15 p.m. (1815 hours, military time): The red carpet closes with the crowd more excited than ever, ready to start the show. 5:40 p.m. (1740 hours): Camp Pendleton’s Base Commander Col. Seaton takes his turn down the red carpet. What a memorable moment for the camp’s representative to receive such a warm ovation from the WWE fans. “This is a huge event for Camp Pendleton,” said Col. Seaton. 5:31 p.m. (1731 hours): The man of the hour finally arrives, and the throng of rabid fans is now in an absolute frenzy. Cena is excited, but nervous too, as he admits to WWE.com. “I’m nervous, but excited to be nervous. This is a moment I’ve been waiting my whole life for.” Cena was arm-in-arm with his co-star, the beautiful starlet Kelly Carlson, who no doubt helped calm Cena’s nerves. Cena has a final announcement before heading inside: “The Champ is right here, I’m ready to get this thing started. Let’s go to the movies!” 5:27 p.m. (1727 hours): Triple H emerges from his limo and the crowd goes wild. Chants of “DX!” arise, but The Game is riding solo tonight. 5: 23 p.m. (1723 hours): Carlito, Candice, Coachman and director John Bonito arrive next. Like her fellow Diva, Candice is also wearing a lovely black number. The men all sport handsome suits, with Carlito looking especially cool as always. “This place is definitely cool. The Marine is gonna be cool. Carlito not being in The Marine – that’s not cool. Not even a cameo?” he joked. (LMAO!!!) A sharp ensemble can’t help Coachman, who gets booed relentlessly on the red carpet as he was for much of the day – although who could blame our nation’s finest for showing their contempt towards Mr. McMahon’s right hand man? “It’s awesome to come here, to be able to come here to the true heroes and the true stars of the world today,” he says. 5:19 p.m. (1715 hours): The first limousine arrives, and out step Ric Flair in a crisp suit and Maria in a sexy black cocktail dress. Maria blew kisses to her adoring Marine fans. Todd Grisham asks if any of the Marines have a chance, and Maria replies, “All of them.” Too many lonely hours spent watching Kiss Cam, perhaps? Even a guy who has been around the block as many times as Rick Flair knows a spectacle when he sees one. “There’s one word to describe it: Awesome. We know that the Marines are the baddest of them all and the bravest of them all,” said “The Nature Boy.” 5:13 p.m. (1713 hours): It’s a wild scene at the red carpet as hundreds of Marines and their families line the red carpet in anticipation of their favorite Superstars’ arrivals. The first 500 to arrive received The Marine t-shirts, which many opted to wave instead of wear. The Power 106FM bus is parked across the lot, displaying a huge ad for The Marine across the side of it. Out of the bus pour even more of Cena’s hyperactive fans. Todd Grisham takes the mic and welcomes everyone to the world premiere of The Marine at Camp Pendleton. 3:45 p.m. (1545 hours): The Superstars and Divas return to the Officers’ Center to relax, recharge and change into their finest theater attire for their big red carpet entrance, slated to happen in just a few hours. Over 100 civilians and soldiers are already lined up outside the theater, eager to be among the first viewers of The Marine. 3:00 p.m. (1500 hours): Next stop on the tour is the Wounded Warriors Center, a hospital for Marines wounded in combat. The WWE Superstars are told that 99 percent of the Marines there are rehabilitating injuries suffered in Iraq. The Superstars and Divas toured empty rooms and lounge areas throughout the center and met a few wounded Marines, who were delighted to shake hands and take pictures with some of their favorite Superstars. Triple H was moved after leaving the facility: “So far the day has been great. Coming to these bases is always cool – spending a few minutes saying hey to the soldiers, the people who are putting their lives on the line for us to have the freedoms that we have and do what we do for a living.” 2:00 p.m. Pacific (1400 hours): A bunch of Marines have decided to give an obstacle course demonstration for the Superstars, Divas and their fellow Marines. As the demonstration is going on, Triple H yells out, “Who wants to see Coach do the obstacle course?” Coachman quickly replies, “I didn’t bring a towel, I didn’t bring soap.” “There’s a fire hydrant right over there,” kids one of the hundreds of Marines who are still gathered around to cheer on their fellow soldiers. 1:30 p.m. Pacific (1330 hours): It's off to the 7th Engineer Support Battalion for another meet-and-greet between the Superstars, Divas and Marines. There's a huge tent set up along one of the camp's many obstacle courses where upwards of 500 Marines are waiting. About 50 of them crowd around Ric Flair – apparently Marines can’t have enough “Woo!” in their lives. Most of the Marines, however, are interested in meeting Maria, who is quickly becoming the favorite hottie at camp. One of Maria’s fans, Cpl. Lorenzi, said, “It was fun meeting Maria. I asked if I could take a picture with her and she said yes. When I watch wrestling, she’s hot.” Maria appreciated the compliment. “I decided that the Marines have the prettiest eyes,” said the flirtatious Diva as she posed for pictures with the eager Marines. The WWE Superstars are as excited to be at Camp Pendleton as the Marines are to welcome them. “We love coming to the military bases, especially today,” said Jonathan Coachman. “Having the premiere of The Marine later today and meeting all the Marines throughout the entire camp – we’re excited and very happy to be here.” at Camp Pendleton is palpable as WWE Superstars and Divas accompany The Marine stars John Cena and Kelly Carlson and director John Bonito to one of the base's chow halls. Ric Flair, Triple H, Carlito, Jonathan Coachman, Maria and Candice enter to flash-bulbs and autograph requests, and the Marines are clearly glad to welcome some of their favorite Superstars to camp. The Superstars and Divas are dressed in their finest attire, while Cena has chosen to don his Marine fatigues for the day. Many of the Marines kid with “The Nature Boy” – there’s plenty of “WOOOO”-ing to be heard. John Cena has a message for the crowd: “We’re here at Camp Pendleton to premiere The Marine. This is a very important day for WWE Films and for me. It’s fantastic that we have the U.S. Embassy on board. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie today – it’s my first time seeing it on the big screen.” - wwe.com __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. | Cena up for 'Late Night' John Cena’s final stop on Tuesday’s media blitz for The Marine release on Friday was NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The WWE Champion’s visit to the talk show proved that not only is Cena a talented WWE Superstar and actor, but a very funny guy, too. O’Brien welcomed Cena to the Late Night stage, and similar to other talk show hosts Cena’s visited recently, O’Brien held the WWE Championship up to his waist to plenty of audience applause. “It looks very, very nice on you, my friend,” Cena said to O’Brien before taking a seat. “You still provide a nice, comfortable seat for my oversized baby bottom posterior.” “That’s how you refer to your bottom as your ‘oversized baby bottom posterior’?” O’Brien replied as the audience laughed. “Well, you gotta keep it clean for mooning incidents and whatnot,” Cena said. You know what? You’re a very humble man, carrying this around wherever you go,” O’Brien joked, pointing to the WWE Championship proudly displayed on Cena’s shoulder. “I love it – you walk into a 7-Eleven, ‘I’ll have a slushie. … What? Oh this?’ ” O’Brien said, pointing to a make-believe WWE Championship on his shoulder. “I try to stay low-key,” Cena joked. “I didn’t even know it was there.” O’Brien told Cena he’s fascinated by his job as a WWE Superstar since it’s so different from his job as host of Late Night. “Well, there are some similarities. We both have to be in fantastic physical shape,” O’Brien kidded. O’Brien also pointed out one of Cena’s in-ring talents – he’s great at the staredown two Superstars have before a match. “Well, it’s a big thing. There’s a lot of intimidating characters in our profession, and you have to have the staredown,” Cena said, focusing his eyes strictly on O’Brien. “Look at that! Yeah, that’s pretty intense,” O’Brien said. He asked Cena if he’d be intimated by him in a classic staredown, so they challenged each other to an on-the-spot staredown match. As their eyes locked and jaws clenched, Cena’s and O’Brien’s faces moved closer. When they were mere inches apart, Cena said, “Why can’t I quit you?” – a serious line from the film Brokeback Mountain, which the Champ now turned into a funny joke. O’Brien jerked his head away and gasped as the audience roared. “Works every time!” Cena said confidently. Before Cena’s entrance to the stage, O’Brien was distracted by a clip of Cena delivering a brutal FU to Viscera in the RAW ring. “Now how heavy is that man? Who is that man?” O’Brien asked. “That is the World’s Largest Love Machine, Viscera. And he clocks in at about 550 pounds,” the WWE Champion said as the crowd oohed. “You lifted him over your head,” a shocked O’Brien said. “Yes, and it was like trying to transport a waterbed,” Cena joked. “It was fascinating, actually.” “Incredible. So you slam this guy down – that’s one of the moves,” O’Brien said. “I love that that’s not a move you can teach to someone because one of the things you need to be able to do is lift 550 pounds over your head. So there’s no way you’re going to teach me that move?” “No,” Cena replied. “OK, I could lift like an old, old man,” O’Brien kidded. “I could get him about chest-high and then push him and then he’d push me back and I’d run away.” “That’s not going to do much,” Cena remarked, pretending to look serious. Finally, O’Brien told Cena he had a clip from The Marine he wanted to share with the audience. He also asked Cena if he’d like to be an action star. “I’d love it,” Cena answered. “I think you’d be terrific. I really do,” O’Brien said sincerely. “I’d feel right at home. I think it plugs right in to the WWE atmosphere,” Cena said to audience cheers. “So we have a clip here from The Marine. You’re obviously playing a Marine. What do we need to know for this clip?” O’Brien asked. “This is probably some sort of blistering action,” Cena said. “If this is a long, talking scene, you’re going down,” O’Brien laughed. After a brutal, intense fight scene from The Marine featuring Cena and Anthony Ray Parker, the audience cheered again. “That looks really good!” O’Brien said about the clip. “The Marine is in theaters this Friday. John, always fun talking to you. You’re a good guy.” Instead of another staredown, the two shook hands and a smiling Cena flashed a peace sign and a big thumbs-up to the audience. - wwe.com ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. | Cena dishes up some 'Cold Pizza' ![]() Not only was John Cena on ESPN2’s Cold Pizza show this morning to promote The Marine, which hits theaters nationwide Friday, but the WWE Champion was honored with the sports morning show’s first ever wrestling Top Play for his FU on World Champion King Booker on Monday night’s season premiere of RAW on the USA Network. “I don’t know what action was more exciting – John Cena in the ring or a clip from his new movie, The Marine,” said Cold Pizza host Jay Crawford. “Thank you very much for the nod on the Top Plays, I do appreciate that. That is a first. That is awesome. We’re making history there,” said Cena from the Cold Pizza set. The Champ was dressed in street clothes, with the WWE Championship slung over his shoulder. Again he explains the differences between starring in a major motion picture like The Marine and what he does each week on RAW, defending his WWE Championship. “There is a very big difference between going out there in front of 10,000 or 20,000 people every night in a small ring, being as excited as possible, and then working in that fine box, making a movie where the most subtle movement can mean the most important thing,” Cena said. Crawford asked Cena why WWE Superstars make such good action stars and noted that while it’s Cena’s first appearance in a major motion picture, he’s already tearing up the big screen. “What WWE is overall, it’s physical athleticism. But we entertain people. It’s a natural fit. We have Superstars. We have entertaining athletes. So to take them out of that sports-entertainment element and to put them on cinema, as long as it’s in that environment they’re comfortable with – with me, a good fit was action – so it works,” Cena said. Crawford also pointed out that The Rock went from the WWE ring to become a major movie star, and asked Cena if he has plans to follow in The Rock’s footsteps. “You know what? As far as full-time, I’d be one of those guys holding down two jobs at once. I really would love to become a full-time movie star, but at the same time, I just can’t leave that ring. There’s something about that electricity of the crowd,” Cena said. Crawford and Cena went on to discuss his match with Undertaker on Monday’s RAW, and Cena described Undertaker as “probably the most intimidating person on the planet.” The curious host also asked the WWE Champion to explain his trademark “You Can’t See Me.” “That whole thing started out as a joke on my little brother. Before I really gained a lot of steam in WWE, I come from a family of five boys – we’re all kind of the same in age, but my youngest one, we were just messing around the house, doing a crazy dance, and he did something like this,” Cena said as he shook his head behind his hand. “I said that’s stupid man, I’m going to get that on TV. And he said, ‘you won’t do it,’ so instead of doing that, I just came up with this,” Cena said as he did his “You Can’t See Me,” waving his hand in front of his face. “And there’s a terminology, like trash talk, like ‘You Can’t See Me’ means you’re not on my level, so, ‘You Can’t See Me,’ here we go. It works every time!” Since Cena is from Massachusetts and is a Boston Red Sox fan, he and Crawford talked about the future of Red Sox outfielder, Manny Ramirez (Cena says he hopes the Sox keep Ramirez). Crawford also pointed out Cena’s desire to be a Sox bullpen catcher, and said there’s a Major League catcher in the Cold Pizza studio – the Chicago White Sox’s A.J. Pierzynski, who Crawford said happens to “know a thing or two about wrestling.” Pierzynski walked out into the Cold Pizza studio and said to Cena: “I’m issuing you a challenge right now. I’ll take you on. Let’s go.” “You’ll take me on?” Cena asked. “Yeah, I’ve seen you take a hell of a beating, so I have to give you your respect there, former World Champion,” Cena said, pointing out Pierzynski’s 2005 World Series ring. “A former Champion, nonetheless.” Crawford went through a tale of the tape onscreen, comparing Cena and Pierzynski, and while Pierzynski is two inches taller and five pounds heavier than Cena, the WWE Champion said he’s confident he could take the White Sox catcher. “You got me a little bit on the reach, but I think I can handle it,” Cena said. “I got you on the weight, too, so I think I’d just lay on you for a while,” Pierzynski joked. But all is well that ends well – Cena reminded Cold Pizza viewers that The Marine hits theaters nationwide Friday, and the WWE Champion and the World Series Champion shook hands, and Cena called Pierzynski “Champ.” ![]() - wwe.com __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. | Cena visits '106 & Park' ![]() On Tuesday, John Cena continued his media tour to promote Friday’s nationwide release of The Marine by stopping by 106 & Park: BET’s Top 10 Live video countdown. The WWE Champion was welcomed to the 106 & Park studio by a cheering crowd, and Cena stopped to hug an overjoyed female WWE fan in the audience. 106 & Park hosts Terrence J. and Rocsi were in awe of Cena’s WWE Championship, and Rocsi asked to hold it. “The Champ is here, everybody,” Cena said, pointing at Rocsi. “I am the mosquito-weight champion of the world, yo,” she joked, struggling to hold up the heavy Championship. “You gotta for real work out to carry that belt!” As the hosts and Cena sat on the couch of the 106 & Park set, Rocsi asked Cena about his Five Questions with the Champ segment on WWE.com. Rocsi said she and Terrence had their own five questions for Cena. “I want to know how much you bench press,” Rocsi asked for Question No. 1. “Well, I usually never kiss and tell. Well, let’s say I can lift a 550-pound man over my head. Easily enough to show you a good time, that’s for sure,” he said, flirting with a very impressed Rocsi. “Wow, OK! Rocsi, you all right?” Terrence asked Rocsi, who was fanning herself. Question No. 2 from Terrence was about the difference between the spinner medallion vs. the spinner WWE Championship. “I had to rock the medallion when I didn’t have the gold. When I got the gold, I just changed the whole game up,” Cena said, spinning the WWE logo in his Championship. Rocsi wanted to know how John came up with the Chain Gang Soldiers for Question No. 3. “I’m just a lucky kid who got a bunch of breaks. I’m just from a small town. I got lucky with a bunch of opportunities. So I never look at myself as a Superstar. I don’t put anybody below or above anybody else because I realize that good and bad can switch like that. I don’t want people going around saying, ‘I’m a John Cena fan.’ I want people to be part of a movement, like a gang. And I thought, what better environment than the chain gang because they go through hell every day and we out there just doing it,” Cena said. For Question No. 4, Terrence asked Cena what was the hardest part growing up in such a large family. “Not getting my ass whipped!” Cena revealed. He thanked his mom for doing such a great job raising him and his four brothers, just as he did earlier in the day on Cold Pizza. For Question No. 5, Rocsi asked where Cena ranked in the family order, and the WWE Champion said he was second oldest, but that didn’t matter – all his brothers were close and constantly competing to see who was the toughest. After introducing a Janet Jackson video, Cena, Terrence and Rocsi returned, and the Champ spoke about the premise of The Marine, how he prepared for his role as John Triton and WWE’s support of the United States military. “Belive it or not, I do get in a fight every now and again,” Cena quipped, looking at the WWE Championship slung over his shoulder. “And WWE has a really good relationship with all the armed services. We fully support anybody wearing those U.S. colors, anybody standing on the front lines or in a base doing what they do. WWE as a unit has a lot of support for our troops in the armed services,” Cena said to audience applause. “Thank you very much. I’ve been to military bases. I’ve had the opportunity to go to Iraq and Afghanistan. So I’ve seen troops in every facet of their lives – in recruit training, on the base for r-and-r, and I’ve been in the middle of a warzone. So I’ve used all that experience and all that I’ve seen to just kind of develop my character.” Finally, Cena told Terrence he was going to make the 106 & Park host tough by teaching him a WWE move. “And this is going to be a stretch because you don’t look tough at all!” Cena joked, causing the crowd to go wild. “We are going to introduce you to the world of sports-entertainment with a very, very devastating move called the open-hand chop,” Cena told Terrence as Rocsi looked on, holding the WWE Championship. Cena showed Terrence his target – the Champ’s chest. The crowd loudly chanted, “Chop, chop, chop,” and Terrence went for his first chop and barely grazed Cena’s plaid shirt. The crowd booed and Cena was obviously disappointed. He gave Terrence another try, and Terrence hit Cena a bit harder and yelled, “I even pushed him back!” Cena joked it was his turn to try out the move on Terrence, as Rocsi begged him to do it. Terrence might be much smaller than Cena, but he’s a quick thinker – he decided to plug The Marine instead of letting Cena go for the chop. “The Marine opens this Friday!” Terrence told the cheering crowd. ![]() - wwe.com All those pictures would make a really nice avi. *cough* ![]() __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. | Damn this boy has been everywhere. LOL FLEX time for Cena ![]() Just in time for the nationwide premiere of The Marine on Friday, the WWE Champion’s FLEX magazine feature cover story is on newsstands now. Between defending the WWE Championship on RAW every Monday night and promoting his upcoming action film, John Cena shot the FLEX magazine cover in August, and WWE.com was there with The Champ. “We are here today at Gold’s Gym for a FLEX magazine cover shoot, which believe it or not, is a teen/childhood dream of mine,” Cena said. “It’s an honor and privilege. “FLEX magazine is very cool because they stay up to date with what’s going on with bodybuilding; they stay up to date with what’s going on with nutrition. If you are into health, into fitness, into training the body to work hard, into the sport of bodybuilding, into the history of bodybuilding, FLEX is the magazine.” A group of about 20 people followed John Cena around Gold’s Gym in Manhattan’s Times Square, including a WWE.com crew, FLEX magazine reporter Allan Donnelly and freelance photographer Ian Spanier. New York’s FOX News, Entertainment Tonight and USA Weekend magazine were at the gym to talk to Cena, too. As Cena took the small crowd through his weightlifting workout, Spanier and WWE.com documented the morning with photographs and video. From dead lifts, to lateral pull downs, to pushups, to pull-ups, Cena insisted he was doing his actual workout with real weight, not just posing for the cameras. “I’ve been on photo shoots sometimes and they say to do this, this and this, and you have to hold poses and do this and this. [FLEX] just let me work out, and they shot it, which was very cool,” Cena said. “They got a few different shots. I hadn’t done dead lifts in a while, about 10 years. But other than the dead lifts, that was my regular work out. What you see is what you get. That’s the weight I use. Those are the reps I do.” Throughout his workout, Cena took breaks to talk about weightlifting; his RAW rival, Edge; and The Marine. Amid the noisy clanking of weights from fellow gym-goers, Cena offered bits of advice. “Am I a super healthy person? Hell no. I have McDonald’s five times a week maybe. I know when to say when – everything in moderation. It’s like when somebody gets a gym membership for the new year, and they go like hell for three months and quit for six months, it isn’t going to do you any good. Get in here everyday and do what you got to do.” After a few more reps, and a few sips of ABB Speed Stack energy drink, Cena quipped, “Not only would you never see Edge working out like this, you never see Edge working out.” Cena’s workout routine lasted more than an hour, with short pauses for tape changes for the camera crew. Before shooting the FLEX magazine cover in a more secluded area of Gold’s Gym, Cena sat down with WWE.com for an exclusive interview. He said being on the cover of FLEX magazine is an honor for him because he’s a self-proclaimed “bodybuilding fan at heart.” He’s an avid FLEX reader, and has been working out since age 13. “The kids in high school were picking on me. I used to have to walk from junior high to high school everyday to catch the bus. That’s when I was wearing the MC Hammer pants. Yeah, turquoise polka dots; I even had the mustard stripes with the baggy pants. And like the wingtip shoes that were all shiny… it was ridiculous. And I was very much made fun of. And I understand why. I would have made fun of that, too. It was that old kick sand in your face-type of story. I said, ‘Forget this, I’m not going to take this anymore.’ My dad bought me my first weight set when I was 13 and I haven’t missed a day since. “For somebody to say we want you to shoot the cover of FLEX, it feels good. Everyday you get in the gym and bust your ass, it’s not to make the cover of FLEX, but when the people from FLEX say, ‘Hey man, we want you to do the cover,’ that’s a real good reward for always having to go to the gym.” Cena was a bodybuilder during the end of his enrollment as a high-schooler at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass., and while studying at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., where he earned a bachelor of science in exercise physiology in 1999. Throughout his many years of weightlifting, Cena has modified his routine. “I’m getting old. My workout has changed. I don’t go as heavy, I don’t go as hard. I try to make it through the day, that’s kind of my quote,” he said. “A lot times you’re tired, a lot times you don’t want to work out and my quote is just to ‘get it done and make it through the day.’ Whereas before, it was go hard or go home, get big or get out. I’m past that. I can’t do that.” At the recent FLEX magazine photoshoot, a shirtless Cena wore camouflage shorts in honor of his upcoming feature film, The Marine. The movie opens in theaters nationwide on Friday. “This is a little bit of myself and a little bit of movie madness. We’re doing the promotion for The Marine. To be honest with you, I have a lot of respect for the armed services and what they stand for, their codes of discipline, regimen. And that pretty much fits the routine of the gym. You have to have discipline; you have to have a regimen. You have to follow the rules to an extent, but at the same time, you go in there ready to kick ass. So [the camouflage shorts] just fit, rather than the usual mesh shorts, tank top, the training gear that everybody wears. I figured I’d change it up a bit. I appreciate the Pumps; I got to keep the Reebok Pumps,” he said, pointing to his sneakers. “I had to get a little of my own style in there.” Cena was pleased to be doing his FLEX magazine photoshoot at a Gold’s Gym, a WWE corporate partner. “Gold’s Gym is as consistent as McDonald’s. You go to McDonald’s, you know what’s on the menu, you know exactly what you’re going to get. Gold’s Gym, when you see that logo, you walk in and you know you’re getting a great gym. You know the equipment is state of the art, you know you’re going to have options to choose from, whether it be cardio, free weights or machines. You know what you’re going to get.” As for working out while on the road with WWE, Cena says gyms aren’t always as consistent or as nice as a Gold’s Gym. “It’s the luck of the draw. You get to the town. You dial information. You get a list of local gyms and fitness centers and you take what they give you. Sometimes it’s good, other times it’s just getting by.” While shooting the cover shot for FLEX, Cena stood in front of a black backdrop which really emphasized his powerful, muscular stance. Spanier uploaded the photos to his laptop after each handful of shots, and placed the photos on a mockup FLEX cover to see how the photos would look. From Cena crossing his arms, to giving his signature salute, to flexing, the shots were so great, it was hard for Spanier to pick a favorite. It was the photographer’s first time shooting a WWE Superstar, and he was so pleased with the results, he said he’d love to photograph another again. “He’s great. He’s really easy to work with. He’s fully accommodating. I try to move fast. I try to keep those guys on their toes, not let it get to a point where they get bored,” Spanier told WWE.com. Cena was just as happy with how well his FLEX magazine cover debut photoshoot went. He thought the photos came out “fantastic” and his favorite shot was of the dead lifts, because he hadn’t done them in a while. “Ian, the photographer, is a great guy. He made me look good. He was like, ‘Go through your work out and I’ll shoot it.’ It was the easiest photoshoot I’ve ever done,” Cena said. “If you caught me five or six years back, I’d be in the middle of a 10-week diet, be looking the best I could. [Today] I just showed up. These guys are pros. Not only did they get me to train like hell, but the pictures look phenomenal. I’m so satisfied, being able to be on the cover of FLEX magazine.” Cena also made a point to send a message to the WWE fans who check out his Five Questions segment on WWE.com. “Thank you. Thank you very much for allowing me to vent for 15 minutes every week on the segment that everyone loves to hate to love, Five Questions with John Cena. The fact that I get to do that every week is a real pleasure, so thank you to everyone watching and clicking on to WWE.com.” He also wanted to tell the WWE fans that they are in for a real treat when they go to the theater to see The Marine. “The WWE fans are going to be surprised. They are going to be very surprised. Everybody saw See No Evil and they were completely taken off-guard by how well it was done. This is going to be that same thing. It gives a new light to what the WWE as a whole is capable of. It’s going to be fantastic. “The movie is a little bit of everything. It’s an action film. There are many, many explosions. … I’m running a parallel course with these bad guys who pulled a diamond heist that’s gone horribly wrong, and we bump into each other at a gas station. And they need a hostage. They take my wife. I spend the rest of the movie making their lives miserable, dodging explosion after explosion, after bullets, after explosion. It’s really fun though. It’s a good action ride. It gives a lot of action, a little bit of romance, a little bit of comedy, some moments you aren’t expecting. It’s a fun ride.” But Cena wanted to make it clear that filming a movie is much different, and challenging in other ways, than a live, WWE event. “WWE is cameras on live, no second takes. …Movies, it was a different experience. My hat goes off to all the actors. When you sit down in a movie theater you believe the role they play because they have to do it over and over again. At WWE you’re shot out of a cannon, you go and you make it happen.” Cena took four months of acting classes before filming The Marine on location in Australia. He says he hopes this isn’t the only movie he’ll star in, and he’s not opposed to possibly acting in a genre other than action. “I’m one that loves to take the bull by the horns. If something challenging comes along and it’s something I feel like I could pull off, I’m going to try.” Finally, Cena offered a bit of motivation to the WWE fans reading WWE.com, watching him in the WWE ring or in The Marine, or reading about him in FLEX magazine: “This is for Johnny Couch Potato sitting at home saying ‘How can I get in shape, I don’t know a damn thing about the gym?’ Step one: Go to the gym. Step two: Continue to go to the gym. If you do my work out exactly, it may not work for you. Everybody’s different. It’s like making chicken soup. Some people add more salt, some people add more meat. Some people add more broth. Find what works for you. If you like to run, then damn it, run. Run until your shoes get sore. Be Forrest Gump. Do it! Maybe you like to lift weights. … You got to get in there first of all. Get off your ass. Get in the gym!” ![]() ![]() - wwe.com __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. | USA Today article on Cena A new action star/femme fatale pairing? Can a WWE wrestler and a Nip/Tuck tart offer moviegoers a Total Recall to the glory years of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone? The Marine's John Cena, 29, and Kelly Carlson, 30, are ready to fill the void left by those former big-screen titans, co-starring as John and Kate Triton in the WWE-produced action adventure film opening Friday. Like Schwarzenegger, who started out as a bodybuilding champ, Cena has a body that supersedes his acting résumé. He has wrestled with the WWE since 2002. Though he has yet to meet the Governator, he has received sage advice from wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who warned him about "the whole rocky road ahead." And following in the stilettos of Stone, who began her career with guest spots in TV series such as T.J. Hooker, Carlson is taking on her first starring role in a feature film after shocking audiences since '03 as Nip/Tuck's smut peddler turned Scientologist, Kimber. Carlson modeled Kimber's new look after Stone's "severe, sophisticated and sexy" Basic Instinct style. When she met Stone several years ago at a Rodeo Drive boutique, Carlson recalls Stone telling her, "Man, I love your hair," to which Carlson replied, "I copied yours." But it takes more than well-coiffed hair and pumped-up pecs to become major movie stars. Schwarzenegger and Stone proved a winning team in 1990's Total Recall. In the years following, he muscled, while she muffled, their box-office competitors. But today, Ah-nuld, 59, is governor of California, while Stone, 48, has appeared in a string of box-office bombs (Catwoman, Basic Instinct 2). Entertainment Tonight's Leonard Maltin believes the time is right for the next big action star and femme fatale to make a splash. "Every generation seems to have its iconic action star and sex symbol, and neither one of these needs necessarily be filled by an outstanding actor," notes Maltin. "It's the right role in the right movie at the right time that makes all the difference." Time — and ticket sales — will tell if Cena and Carlson have staying power. They have comparisons between Cena and Arnold on the site. Interesting read. HERE __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. That's a number that he made famous. He's greatness. | |||

| According to BoxOfficeMojo "The Marine" was #6 its opening day and will likely stay there for the reminder of its opening weekend. However, if it does move up, they are not expecting it to break into the top 3. Bummer. I was hoping it would do better than that.. ![]() __________________ I'm caught up in a dream, I'm gonna wish for it all No one's gonna tell me how, no way, this is my dream now av credit | |||
