| Yes anti comments should be posted in *anti* threads, not appreciation threads. Comments posted here will only relate to John Cena's gimmick, storylines and the WWE! __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. That's a number that he made famous. He's greatness. | |||

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have to say, i am half and half in liking and disliking John, i hate that fact that he's a champion still, he always needs to have that belt back, give someone else a chance to be a champion - it is annoying __________________ This should be the greatest night of my life... and i should be with someone who believes in me. | Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | He's undoubtedly not my fave by any means, but Cena really is not a bad wrestler nor is anyone a wannabe fan for appreciating him or his work. No, he's not an all time great and sometimes, yes, he does have some execution problems (not in a botchy, dangerous way like RVD does, but visually, like with his weak as hell STF), but his face psychology is very good. He may not know 10,000 variations of an arm bar or randomly leap off of everything that's tall just because it looks cool, but he knows how to tell a story with his work if his opponent is on his level or better than he is and he has an ability to work a crowd into a match (for or against him) -- two things that are way more important and unfortunately lacking in many, many guys these days. They just book and push him into lameness and overkill. He needs to somehow get out of the direct title picture for awhile for his and Raw's own good. | |||

| Yes his wrestling skills or lack thereof can be discussed in here as well. The anti thread label was simply because we are discussing the character that is John Cena, since none of us really know the person. Bianca, excellent post and ITA. This sort of reminds me of the Rock....even at his popular stage in his career. He began to get booed, dissed because of his lack of wrestling skills as they said, etc. But I like Cena, yea he doesn't have the best gimmick in the world...but he makes it work. And that's the key right there...love or hate him....he is doing his job. And Raw just started. ![]() __________________ "I don't think anybody should wear it. That's a number that he made famous. | Even though this is an "anti" thread.... John Cena is slowly earning my respect and that of the fans as well. I don't think he needs to go heel any time soon to get over with the fans. Why? What I believe is changing is the WWE realizes John Cena is (was) never going to be the next Stone Cold, or The Rock, and are now embracing what Jon Cena is and can bring to the company rather than what he is not. John Cena has a following of young (11-14-year old) fans male and female, and this sells merchandise. Where Cena doesn't have a following is with the slightly older fans (teens-20somethings) which they had with Stone Cold, and The Rock. WWE has finally accepted they are never going to get this demographic with Cena, so they are now booking him (his character) with the intent of making him his "own man" instead of trying to fill the shoes other wrestlers like HHH, and Edge fill and who do appeal to the slightly older fans and beyond. The wrestling business outside the ring is all about niches and demographics to sell merchandise. Another part of Cena's problem that has been discussed before is in trying to mold him into being the next Rock, or Austin... WWE wouldn't let him wrestle (and still don't to an extent) and relied solely on his persona and charisma to put over/under matches he was booked in, but Cena just didn't have the huge response from the slightly older fans who wanted to see actual wrestling (or ass whippin') and not "personalities" in the ring. Cena has good ring psychology and can sell a story, but it is still a work-in-progress and nowhere near Rock or Austin's level yet, but WWE insisted on trying to push him there no matter how much he wasn't ready for it and the older fans reacted accordingly: They turned on him. These are some of what I believe John Cena and WWE's main problems were from the start. It has taken almost a year and a half for everyone to realize this, but they are aware of it now, so things should be better for everyone overall. | |||
