I haven't see that many on AO3 which is my favorite FF place. FF.net is really cluttered. If I run across some good ones I'll post the links.

I like the "tagging" system on ff.net a lot better.

I don't. They tried to be like AO3 and now when I look for certain characters/shipping fics they bring in all the others linked with it as well. I'm not a fan.

Awe I see what you mean.
Honestly I hated it when they did that. Because "triangle" fics would always get thrown in the mix. Honestly I'm fed up with love triangles or so-called triangle fics. But they does allow you to block characters. (Which one points with me) With AO3 you don't really have any options. So if you want Mary/Francis you would get everything tagged as Mary/Francis (regardless of how minor the role is in the fic). In my experiance most of the time its slash fics. __________________

Usually it's whatever the main shipping characters go first. The background characters come after. I don't add other characters to my listing unless they have a big role in the fic.

It's especially infuriating when they bash one half of a canon ship to justify their non-canon ship. There's no need for that when a simple "After three years of dating, A and B realised they wanted different things out of their relationship and decided to split up."
You can then have them remaining friends, which is always nice, since it can lead to fun scenes like "Ok I know we used to date and it might be awkward for us to talk about that, but I'm falling for C and I don't know what to do!", or if you really can't stand B, just say "They tried to stay friends, but given their history, it was too hard. B decided to leave the city, taking up on a new job offer at the other side of the country." No one has been bashed and the writer doesn't look like a raging fanbrat who's really just angry that their OTP isn't canon. __________________

Yeah in my fiction I try to equalize all characters and try to give them all a center point. Not just the trio but minor characters too.
Updated mine with chapter 6 Falling Out Of Favour: Chapter 6 - Clarity Last edited by sourburst; 01-03-2014 at 09:37 AM |
