Ah so much happens in the first 10 minutes of this episode.

- Charles thinking that Mary was talking about him giving her an heir. Awkward. Lola's right. He's so very... young.
- Mary lying to Lord Nicholas to protect Francis.
- I really love this confrontation between Mary and Catherine. I was cheering them both on.
"I am just as strong and as stubborn as Elizabeth. I will not live in fear of her."
"All I have ever wanted was to protect my children. Let me protect them while I still can. Let me help him."
And the classic... "You vampire bitch!"
- "Prettiest vampire I've ever seen." So cheesy. France talking about all the things they won't get to do together. Dancing under the stars at the Louvre.
- FRASH!!!! "Brother...you look like hell."
- Bash wanting to "handle" Antoine. I would have liked to see that.
- Adorable Cleith moment when Claude gives Leith the fancy shirt - and then totally checks him out when he's shirtless. I mean... how could she help it? Damn. Then that jerk throws the dirty luggage at Leith, ruining the shirt - and highlighting the seemingly insurmountable difference in their stations.
- Mary vs. Antoine. I have to admit, I saw both sides of this argument as well.
"Why are you trying to blame a woman for a man's choices?"
"You are a dangerous and duplicitous woman, and you destroyed my brother." I have to agree with Antoine that Mary shares responsibility for what happened to Conde - fueling his ambition to steal the throne of France, promising her love only to turn on him. But...even Antoine knew from the beginning that Conde getting involved with Mary would end BADLY, and Conde didn't heed his brother's warnings. That's on him.
- "This feels like it did in the beginning: like we can do anything together." Oh, Francis.
- Francis falling on the stairs and - as usual - the guards at French court are pretty much useless.

I'm halfway through the episode. Stay with me, everyone. (Stay with me. Get it? )

Warning: The overuse of the emoji in this post is highly likely.

- Ugh, Lorcisse in bed. I honestly don’t hate them. There are moments like these when they are very sweet. Narcisse seems sincere, and the fact that it’s “forbidden” only makes it more attractive. I get it. A marriage proposal in bed, Narcisse? Classy.
- Oh, Constance is trouble.
- Francis refusing the opium, and then Charles stealing it. Just say NO, Charles!
- Mary kissing Francis’ hand.
- Ah, Francis knows about Lorcisse. This scene between Francis and Lola is so heartwrenching. Lola admitting that she loves Narcisse. Francis pleading, as John’s father, for her not to marry him. He wants a good man in his son’s life after he is gone. Lola promising to consider his wishes. I really do love their friendship.
- Here we go. STAY WITH ME. This dance never fails to cut me to my core. I mean…the beauty and subtlety of the acting here. Francis bravely facing the pain because he wants to dance with the woman he loves. Mary leading. The way their eyes communicate perfect ADORATION. I don’t even care that the dance is interrupted by Lorcisse and Antoine. It’s magical.
- I’m proud of Lola for refusing Narcisse at first. She wants what is best for her son.
- Uh oh. Down goes Constance. I love that Charles ran to Claude for help. “God, I wish Mother were here. She manages tragedy with ruthless clarity.” It’s so appropriate that they turned to the next best person at court to handle such a situation. Narcisse. It was pretty impressive how Narcisse took charge and starting ordering Charles around. The boy needed some sense slapped into him.

"You Vampire Bitch" is by far one of my favorite lines. lol it's so ridiculous, but Megan delivers it with such gusto it doesn't even matter.

I think I am the only person in the world who disliked their choice in song for the frary dance.

The Catherine/Francis scene always makes me bawl my eyes out. I think it is actually one of the saddest scenes in the entire show. Made me cry harder than even his death scene. Probably because I knew that was coming but this caught me off guard.

And Mary.....finally!!....understanding where Catherine has been coming from all this time. Where you been girl?

Followed up by the most epic ten seconds of pure acting perfection in history. The amount of emotion Megan portrayed as she sat on that throne will always leave me shook.

I'm almost to the Francis/Catherine scene. I'm bracing myself for the feels.

Part 3 of my thoughts.

- Antoine trying to makes deals with England in the dark of night. He could be King of France, but he would have to let his brother die…
- Thank God Bash was following Antoine and discovered what he was up to.
- “I'm Catherine de Medici, Queen Mother of France. Maybe you've heard of me.” YES, QUEEN! Lord Nicholas never had a chance. Never mess with a mother who is willing to die for her children. “I don't have much to live for these days. But I can still die for my children.”
- Charles: “But you’ve done this before?” – Narcisse: “Never.” I have to admit, Narcisse was pretty amazing. Saving Constance’s life and getting Charles to step up and take responsibility. The pride on Claude’s face when Narcisse credits her “quick thinking.”
- Claude is so excited to tell Leith everything that happened, and then she walks in on him and one of her ladies. But, hey… more shortless Leith. The way Claude teases him when he pretty much admits that he’s afraid he might fall in love with her. And the smirk on her face.
- After what Narcisse accomplished with Charles, I understand why Francis was impressed. I’m sure he wanted to see the goodness and honor in Narcisse that Lola saw. And he wanted his friend to be happy. That’s why I don’t second guess Francis’ decision to give Narcisse his blessing to marry Lola. As I watched this scene this time around… I was happy for Narcisse.
- Mary and Francis confronting Antoine. I love this scene. Francis couldn’t conceal the fact that he was dying any longer. His ear bleeding. I know I should be horrified that Francis killed one of Antoine’s men just to make a point, but I couldn’t help but be a bit proud of him. He protected the future of his family, and proved that he has just a little bit of his parents’ ruthlessness. Gah Toby is just so brilliant at acting “slightly unhinged.” And let’s face it: Francis covered in blood and threatening to rip Antoine’s country away from him….that’s hot. Disturbing, but hot.

Final Thoughts

- Ugh, sorry Bash. At this point, I just don’t care at all about Delphine or the serial killer who steals hearts.
- “Beautifully Unfinished” – such a lovely song for Lorcisse’s wedding.
- And here’s Lord Nicholas, slinking his way back into court.
“Tell your queen that I will fight for Scotland until my last breath.” – “You haven't lost me yet. I'm still here.” Francis, you are just TOO MUCH.
- Mary realizing what we’ve known from the beginning. It was not the alliance that kept her and her country safe. It was Francis’ love for her. Knowing that Charles will NEVER be Francis… she must seek a new alliance.
- Mary FINALLY understanding where Catherine was coming from – that she would do ANYTHING to protect her family.
- More CSI Bash….
- Francis and Catherine. There are no words. This scene is just so heartbreakingly beautiful. Catherine promising to look after Mary… and everyone. “I'm sorry I wasn't the mother that you wanted me to be. I did my best.” Oh, Catherine.
- That final moment of understanding between Matherine. Mary had convinced Francis to reconsider Catherine as regent, and Catherine had tred to find Mary a new alliance.
- YIKES. The newlyweds Lola and Narcisse running into Catherine… who is obviously out of prison. SUPER awkward.
- What can I say about this final scene of Catherine sitting on the throne? It’s simply EPIC. Masterful. I don’t know many actresses alive today who can accomplish what Megan Follows did there. A million emotions expressed in a matter of seconds. Just… brilliant.

I didn’t get to watch today, my dad has been in the hospital since Saturday night, so after work it’s to the hospital for awhile and then I’m so exhausted..... I’m hoping to watch this weekend and add thoughts......

True. I mostly just wanted Delphine to go away. And I didn't care about the killer storyline until everyone suspected it was Catherine's boy toy.

How does Narcisse know what to do in the case of poisoning

So everyone knows now Francis is sick!

Lola seems so happy

How could anyone not love Francis after this!

Catherine's promise is making me cry, she really means it.
