I would like to extend my gratitude to the city of Stratford for bestowing me with this honour; I would also like to congratulate my fellow Bronze Star recipients: Colm Feore and Rod Beattie, and pay my respects to the memory of the great Howie Morenz. I feel very privileged to work in an industry that I love and respect-a deep love and respect that I inherited from my parents who performed for many seasons throughout their careers at the Stratford festival. My mother was a company member during the inaugural season. Before I acted on the festival stage, I spent many summers as child in this city, riding my bike along the Avon river, learning how to swim at the Lions pool, and then one afternoon I saw my first festival production. I was around 4 or 5, and I still remember the awe and wonder it inspired, and feeling that I was… home. My career has taken me all around the world. I have portrayed characters on the stage and on the screen from all walks of life and from all kinds of places, and have collaborated with artists from across the globe; but as we celebrate our nation’s 150th birthday, I am incredibly proud and grateful to have had the good fortune to work in this country, the country of my birth. #stratfordfestival #romeoandjuliet #canada150 #tbt #supportthearts __________________
