Yeah, it's frustrating. I totally understand and respect Mary's desire to be "a different kind of queen" and Catherine's advice/perspective can seem appalling and downright horrifying.
  However, Mary just couldn't see the big picture like Catherine could. Obviously, Mary had a lot to learn from Catherine about the harsh realities of their position. That said, I think that Catherine also learned from seeing Mary's (and Francis') idealism and compassion. There is a middle ground - and Matherine was always at their best when they were working together and listening to each other.__________________
