Thanks, Rita. Unfortunately, I don't have the day off from work like I thought I would, AND I have other plans tonight. So, it will probably be later before I can watch and join the discussion. I will do it as SOON as I get home, though.

HAVE FUN!

Also, feel free to bring over any pretty gifs, edits or vids from the episode that you want to share.

Such a pretty love scene!

Adelaide deserves another lead role in a show. And I'm forgetting Toby. Of course, him too.

Francis should have been resting instead of working. Those adorable curls!

Craig with his open shirt

Charles' entry

How could Narcisse refuse such a sexy Lola!

I remember there was quite a lot of anticipation for S3 to begin. The introduction of Queen E at the end of S2 and the previews with a tiger all added to the buildup.

The light in the opening sequences is warm and generally amazing and I like the view of the White Cliffs of Dover for the transition to England.

Rachel's british queen accent is "spot on," and what a surprise to see Catherine lounging in the Queen's personal quarters.

Wisdom from Catherine: You were nobody's first choice and, yet, here you are.

The music when the pirate enters with the tiger reminds me of the music to the Pirates of the Caribbean.

The feelings between Lord Dudley and the Virgin Queen are intense from their first conversation.

Enter Bash and the hunt for the Sorceress Delphine - yawn.

Greer to save the day.

It is so sad when Francis begs Mary to believe that he is gravely ill.

I wish Greer and the Pirate had stayed together, alas.

Oh no, Francis is so ill that he can barely stand up when talking with Charles.

Mary and Francis are so quick to link Catherine to Elizabeth. They are quite a force when working together.

I think we all agree that the last scene with the tiger is over the top.

The best things for me about this episode are that Conde is no more, Elizabeth is emerging as an interesting character, and Francis and Mary are fully together.

Hey everyone! I have to get going in a minute, but I wanted to stop by to say hi. I'll be back later with more of my thoughts (likely spread over several posts ) After watching the first 15 minutes of the episode, all I can is say is THE FIRST THREE MINUTES ARE ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!

My beautiful angelic babies.

ETA: I'm back! It bears repeating.... that opening sequence is EVERYTHING.

- Mary dancing with her ladies and being all kinds of ADORABLE.
- Frary's smiles as they skip towards each other, kiss, and then run off to bed. It's pure SUNSHINE.
- The utter tenderness in that love scene and the way they look at each other with such awe and adoration. It's so beautifully shot, too.
- That bittersweet little moment when Mary reaches out for Francis in bed and realizes he's not there.
- HE'S BUILDING HER A FREAKIN' BOAT!
- The way Francis teases her for not helping with the boat, and the look on her face when he throws that rag at her.
- "Again and again and again..." "Nothing is more important"

Look, of course I wished we could have seen more of Frary really working out their issues. But... after all of the pain and anguish of Season 2, it was like a breath of freah air to see them so TOGETHER again. It was like rain after a long, horrible drought, and I drank up every drop of it.

Hey Amanda! No worries. I'm still in the process of watching the episode, too. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

I really felt for Elizabeth during that first scene with her privy council. I love the vulnerability that Rachel brings to the character. She's really just a young girl who wants to be loved. I love when she's struggling to take off her crown and Catherine comes over to help her. Such a poignant little moment.

"Men don't like taking orders from women. They can barely stand speaking to them."

It's no Matherine, but I really did enjoy the scenes between Elizabeth and Catherine. Catherine is the mentor and mother figure that Elizabeth needed. It was fun seeing Catherine offer her wisdom.

I love how Elizabeth knew that Catherine would never have Mary killed. I must say, her plot to have Mary's infidelity with Conde exposed and turn the Vatican against her was rather brilliant.... and nothing that Mary didn't deserve IMO.

QUEEN.

Martin the Pirate's entrance was pretty fantastic. The tiger, the music, and the way he checks out Greer. He really is nice to look at. I never saw potential for anything REAL between Martin and Greer, but it was fun while it lasted.

Oh, Catherine's plan to prevent anyone from knowing she was in England ALMOST worked. If only her decoy hadn't decided to have an affair with a monk, who accidentally gets...umm decapitated? Only on Reign.

I had such high hopes for Elizabeth and Dudley. Being so near each other but never being able to be together. I love the angst. His wife Amy almost seems sweet and normal when we first meet her...

Oh, Narcisse trying to win Lola over. He almost has me convinced that his intentions are honorable - that he wants to protect her, that he would never hurt her. He even took the time to write her love letters. "So you have read my letters. I hope you didn't skip the dirty bits." I'm not a Lorcisse fan, but I get the appeal.

Greer agreeing to "marry" Martin. She has no idea what's to come...

Catherine knows all about Elizabeth and Dudley. Catherine knows all. Goodness, I had almost forgotten that Catherine had suggested that Elizabeth marry Charles.

Starting a new post so this doesn't get out of hand.

I was kind of cheering Francis on when he was warning Lola against Narcisse… but “forbidding” her to be with him probably just made it more attractive.

OH GOD... the scene where Francis confesses to Mary that he is dying. The desperation in his voice as he begs her to believe him and accept it. And the fear and pain on her face. Finally, the HUG.

I love how Francis just goes and sits down on the floor of the chapel as Mary is praying there. His speech is so beautiful. "I am determined to find the joy in our lives. In the small things. In everything."

THE BOAT.

X

Greer and Martin walking and getting to know each other. They do seem compatible in many ways. The Madam and the Pirate.

Charles returning to court. Sweet.

UGH.... I love you Bash, but I just don't care about Delphine or her storyline.

Francis teaching Charles archery! I wish we had had more brother scenes with these two. Francis trying to hide his pain and weakness. He can barely stand.

And post number three.

Ok, I'll admit that Narcisse resisting Lola's bathtub seduction was pretty noble. It was pretty clear that he really did care for her at this point. He really believes they are right for each other.

Lola, if you want to seduce Narcisse, why the heck are you wearing a bath shirt?

Oh, poor Greer when she realizes that Martin was playing her. Another girl's lock of hair.

Catherine? Guilt-striken? Anyone would have figured out she was using a decoy at that point.

GAH Francis's mercy is truely amazing. Even when Mary's affair with Conde rears it's ugly head again and threatens their rule, he assures her that they will not live in the past.

Narcisse and that shirt with the plunging neckine.

Well, it didn't take Mary and Francis long to figure out that Catherine was with Elizabeth at English court. They make such a great team. Mary was pretty brave, facing Elizabeth directly and taking on two queens.

Delphine, just go away.

Lola and Greer's conversation as they watch Martin ride off was pretty entertaining. Lola had a good point. Greer was used by Martin, but she was planning on using him, too. The whole situation made her so aggitated and embarrassed, and it was kind of adorable.

Elizabeth at the beach... realizing she just got tricked. And now William is telling her to get married and chastizing her about Dudley. "Rule your heart." Of course that means Liz is about to go and sleep with Dudley. Again, I had such hope for those two. At least I thought that Rachel and Charlie had nice chemistry.

And now the REAL Amy Dudley reveals herself Uh oh. That girl is TROUBLE.

It was really satisfying to see Mary and Francis have a small victory over Catherine, but watching it again --- putting her in a cage next to the tiger was just too far. She was so scared.

Ep 3-1 - so star off right — I cried watching the confession scene yet again... their early eps moments of bliss I just wanted to bottle them and watch on a loop...

Catherine & Elizabeth - what a mess of revenge - hate - distrust they both have - but they grew up similarly fighting for every ounce of power they could grasp never letting go ‘kindered spirits’ to borrow from Anne of Green Gables, but an unhealthy relationship at its best...

Lola- I often see her listed as ‘the smart one’ & I would agree - her actions are calculated in everything she does, sleeping with Francis was a risk, but the reward of stealing him from Mary for even 1 night as retaliation for her loss of Collin - but karma got her as you knew it would - and she acts like a victim- it’s the same with her interactions with Narcisse

The proposed engagement - so much a ploy on all sides in the end - I don’t think it would have ended with a marriage as Elizabeth wouldn’t have gone through with it ( had it happened and Francis not died)

Pirates are good time guys — poor Greer can’t win for losing.....
