I can't wait to see more of Charles!! He is probably the character I am excited to see more of. I really started to like him at the end of last season.

I'm really excited to see what S4 has in store for Charles. Perhaps a real love interest? But honestly... I'm scared for him. I think he's headed for a downward spiral - especially since he cut himself off from Catherine.

It could either be a good thing or a bad thing. It could be good because when you cut ties with someone you learn more about who you are. But it could be bad since he is a new king that basically has no idea what being king is really about.

^ ^ Yeah, that's why I'm worried, Lee. Charles is so young and doesn't know what he's doing. Plus, he was traumatized when he was kidnapped. He doesn't trust anyone... and he needs to.

Also... I have mixed feelings when it comes to Charles... really... I think I might not like him but we'll see what happens... that all depends on how he treats his mother who only wants him to become a powerful Valois King

I completely understand your mixed feelings about Charles, especially if he doesn't treat Catherine well. I know it's unlikely, but I would love it if they could somehow end on good terms and come to an understanding - like Catherine and Francis did.

Hmmm... I'm so bad at thread titles.

Charles has had some good moments, but not all of his quotes make good thread titles. Will any of these work? Or we can come up with something that's not a quote?

To Mary: "We'll show Spain that you will always have power as long as you are aligned with France. That you will have the House of Valois... the new king... behind you. Forge a new marriage...In the country that will always protect you."

To Claude: "I'm so sorry, Claude. This is all my fault...I'll fix this. I promise."

To privy council: "I've known Narcisse long enough to see I can't trust him to safeguard my family. That is why I'm here today, to ask you to put in his place a regent who will."

To privy council: "I remind you that, while you hold your power today, in a few short years, I will have come into all my power. And I will remember what happened today, who showed me their friendship, who didn't."

To Catherine: "You may be regent, but I am king, and you will pay for what you've done." (I know you probably won't like this one, but it was a strong moment for Charles - and it's a powerful quote.)
