I understand that Gideon is loyal to Elizabeth and must do whatever necessary to keep her safe, but... did he really have to break his promise to Mary? I know he tried to explain that Mary was trying to prevent the coup, but he basically reminded Liz that she will never be safe unless Mary is dead. :( I hate that he betrayed Mary in that way, after everything they shared.

I was actually really proud of Gideon in this last episode. He negotiated ably with Narcisse and he represented his queen well in France. His advice to Narcisse about moving on from Lola's loss was very moving.
