I do admit that when I started watching Reign again a few months ago on Netflix (after not watching since early S2), I decided to watch the S3 finale first. I know, it's crazy but I'm one of those weirdos who reads the back of the book first. When I saw Mary making out with this strange haired dude in Scotland, I about had a heart attack. Needless to say watching the S3 finale first was stupid on my part since half the original cast was gone and I had no idea who all the newbies were or what the heck was going on lol.

I went back and binge watched all three seasons in order and I ended up loving Gideon. Not as a great love for Mary, but his humor makes him attractive and I could totally see how she let herself find comfort in him. I like how we really don't know where his true loyalties lie. I think he loves Mary but I'm not sure that's enough to have him double cross Elizabeth in the end.

I love both Ben and Gideon. Like you said, I don't like him as some great love for Mary, but I definitely understand how they found comfort in each other. He is funny, kind, and a loving father. Plus, the fact that we never really know where his true loyalties lie makes his character really intriguing. I do believe that he genuinely loves Mary, but I'm not sure if he will really risk his own life and betray his queen for her. It will be interesting to see how Mary's plan to have Gideon seduce Elizabeth will go. I'm thinking it will end in disaster.

ETA: Yeah... watching the S3 finale first was probably not your best idea.

aghh yes I know... I hate when people are rude to actors but actually I have to say that I was like that too with Conde/Sean however... I think Ben looks good. He may look older than our boys Toby or Torrance or Jonathan but he is okay

Yeah... I suppose I can't judge when I have made some pretty rude comments about Sean/Conde here on , too. But it does make me sad when I see that rudeness on social media where the actor will more likely see it. Ben seems like a cool guy, and he doesn't deserve that.

That's a shame about the negative comments Ben got. It's not surprising sadly. It's amazing the things people say on social media, it's like they feel they can do anything because they are hiding behind a twitter handle. Instagram seems like it's the nicest and more spam free which is probably why most of our Reign actors are pretty active on there. The comments are mostly all so nice.

And then we have twitter where some of the stuff on there is insane. I think I saw where Adelaide left recently due to all the crazy spamming which isn't surprising.

I've never hated an actor because I hate their character-- but loving the actor/actress tends to make me look at a character I hate more favorably. I really could do without Queen Elizabeth but Rachel makes me want to love her.

It really is a shame. People can be so thoughtless. Instagram does seem to be a bit friendlier medium, and I can see why it's so popular with the cast. I'm not on twitter too much, but I know it can get crazy. I hadn't heard that Ade had left twitter, but I completely understand that.

Agreed... I try not let my feelings about a character color my opinion of the actor/actress in a negative way. That's not fair. Of course, if I love the actor/actress, I'm more inclined to sympathize with their character. RACHEL IS

I adore Ben and Gideon was incredible in the premiere! So heroic. He really seems to want what is best for all sides. It's going to be hard for him to stay loyal to BOTH Elizabeth and Mary, but we'll see.... I'm praying that he and his daughter get a good ending.

Also... I love that Ben face-timed in to join the rest of the cast when they were live tweeting.

I'm liking Gideon way more than I want to, tbh. First of all, I don't want to get attached to him because I'm worried about what might happen to him. He can't keep playing both sides - and sooner or later he will get caught in the crossfire between Mary and Elizabeth. Second... as awesome as Gideon was in the premiere, my Frary heart was still annoyed that Mary mentioned missing her lover Gideon and Francis' name wasn't spoken. (Even though I know that doesn't mean anything.)

Gideon was really good in the premiere, I loved his sincerity in his dealing with Elizabeth. He really wants the best for both Mary and Elizabeth and most of all England. Even though he apparently loves Mary, I still think he will choose country in the end and so will she.

I worry for him too....Darnley is just bad news. We know that historically but heck they even had the forboding music playing with his introduction. I kept saying...can Elizabeth just please let him marry that Keira girl and spare us the nightmare that is probably coming

I hope I'm wrong but I would personally be shocked if poor Gideon survives the season. He's stuck in the middle of such a no win mess

Exactly. I really admire his sincerity and integrity. He truly wants what is best for everyone. But I think you're right... despite how much they may care for each other, in the end, both he and Mary will choose their countries.

Ugh. Completely agree about Darnley. He's trouble with a capital "T." I noticed the forboding music, too. Him marrying Keira would make things simpler. I wonder if he was sincere when he said he was in love with her....

I really hope you're wrong, too... but I have a feeling that you are right.
