I wasn't surprised to be honest, I mean royals don't go down to the kitchen and The kitchen servants don't personally bring the food to them. I'm sure they have people to do that.
Also it's not like Royals or people of wealth are introduced to the people who work for them.

I know the whole rumor thing was going around about Greer and Leith, but not even Henry mentioned Leith's name. He called him the kitchen boy. Also Francis doesn't seem the type to care about 'embarrassing' rumors.

How would he have even known him? Hundreds of servants work in a chateau like that. The kitchen staff really doesn't leave the kitchen. Footmen serve the food, deliver food to rooms, etc. Kitchen staff work & stay in the kitchen. Which the actual royals & nobles would rarely every visit, if ever.

I guess I thought he would have seen him sometime around the castle and be like "Have I seen you somewhere?" when he met him again.
I do know that it was common that royals didn't even look twice at their servants and now that I think about it, I don't remember him being in the same scene as Francis.

Well, realistically...a royal wouldn't know who the kitchen servants were...unless they were like personal spies.

Well, he wasn't HIS servant, which is kinda the point. Francis would know his personal pages, guards, stable boy, valet & footmen. People he has contact with on a regular or daily basis. But he's several layers removed from someone like Leith. So, no, I don't think it's either odd or even surprising he has no clue who Leith is.

I was hoping that Francis might recognize Leith, but it didn't surprise me that he didn't. As others have said, he wouldn't have interaction with kitchen staff and he probably wasn't all that interested in the "kitchen boy" gossip surrounding Greer.

The only thing that bothers me with Leith getting a title is poor Castleroy and the dowry he set aside for Greer's sisters. Not sure Leith could do as well for them. I really disliked Greer's father.
