I agree that they didn't have to add more pain and heartbreak to an already tragic story. Don't get me wrong, I adore that they altered history so that Francis could die protecting Mary. But the miscarriage, the rape, the affair, and the poor way some things were executed... I could have done without all that.

I rewatched the Coronation episode. I had forgotten how amazing it is to see them crowned and how happy they were. And Francis saying that it was also a coronation for a Queen (even though Mary had her coronation before her first birthday).

I wish I could answer that question . I don't know why they had to endure so much on top of the tragedy they were already going to face. They deserved so much better in a lot of aspects.
