I see what you mean, like if it had been "I am at your side. We'll prove to them our union is strong." instead vs is the pull so strong, I would've wanted the former to win.

So did I, I love that he said that. But him so forthrightly admitting his feelings and being willing to let go of his relationship with his mother because of those feelings just got to me

idk, since there wasn't Francis's answer, based on Catherine's line alone, I don't find it as strong as the outvoted one.
