The Bastard son of King Henry II of France and his
mistress Diane de Poitiers. He is also the favourite
son of his father and is allowed to do more than his
half-brother, Francis. He is generally a happy and
sarcastic character. Also well known for being
highly flirtatious and protective of his family.

They met at French Court and since
their connection has blossomed.
They've kissed, consoled, argued
and protected one another.

The Queen of Scotland since she was six days old.
Daughter of Marie de Guise. She is also her only
daughter. She is passionate and poised and on her
rise to power. She is also well known for being
headstrong and putting others before herself.

Oh yes, there was a definite spark of connection between them in that scene. I think Bash admired her free-spirit, it reminded him much of his own. Not to mention, she wasn't afraid to look him in the eye, the illegitimate son, in front of a whole room full of people who probably talked about him behind his back. She saw him as just Bash, an equal and a potential friend. Not to mention the deeper kinship they were already starting to share this early.

Or maybe that's just all my head canon. I remember writing something like that before in a fic that never happened.

No, it's definitely not just in your head, Nikki. Their bond and connection was palpable right from the beginning.

Well, this is ONE of my favorite Mash scenes. Even though I was heartbroken about Frary at this point, I really loved how poignant this moment was. Both of them grieving that they had to lose Francis in order to save him, and yet looking forward to all of the possibilities of their future together...
