I believe Torrance announced his new role publicly a little after they finished filming. Like...maybe he was auditioning around the time they were filming 3x14? It's hard to say when exactly he knew he had the part and when he told the producers and writers of Reign, though.

Bittersweet is the right word. I hope they were able to plan for a proper good-bye....

Mine too.

There were some sweet Mash moments in tonight's ep. We got to see them dancing! And we got to see a lot of Bash being concerned for Mary. I felt so bad for him, especially after his sword was taken away. He must have felt so powerless to protect her...watching her go off alone with Munro, knowing how it would affect her.

It is more than likely the producers of Reign knew months ahead before the public announcement of his new role, given his series regular contract, he would have had to spoke with them in advanced before he even started auditioning for other roles - lots of things happen behind the scenes before we even hear about it in public announcements, and Torrance would have been compelled by his contract to let them know if he was doing auditions or considering leaving, this wasn't a last minute thing, they would have known for a long while and they would have had plans, whether they're good plans is questionable

It is great to see Mary and Bash work together though, this is what I missed so much, them hatching up plans and making it work, and seeing Mary storm into the castle hall with Bash at her side, it was glorious

It really was glorious seeing them working together again.

^ I actually always felt like they are friends and they will always have each other's back and support each other sadly, the writing for them was awful but I stilll believe that even after the story they had in S1 they will forever be friends
