SPOILER AND SPECULATIONS THREAD # 2
Whats coming up for Emma Swan?
This is from the spoiler board by CityGal
Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Lost," "Tron: Legacy") invite everyone to join Emma Swan, Snow White, Prince Charming, The Evil Queen, Hook and all the other resident fairytale characters as they prepare to defend themselves against a magical force from the past that's too unpredictable even for Rumplestiltskin - Elsa, the Ice Queen from Arendelle.
Welcome to Storybrooke, Maine, a small town that probably won't show up on your GPS, but it's a magical place to visit. Reality and myth merged after Emma broke Regina's curse, which had deprived the fairy tale characters of their memories and trapped them in our modern world. When they finally regained their identities, our heroes were dismayed to discover that they weren't transported back to Fairy Tale Land. To make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin - aka Mr. Gold - decided to escalate his power struggle with Regina by introducing magic into the town. But this is our world, and magic always has a tendency to yield unfathomable consequences.
You never give up on the people you love...
The Storybrooke residents do not know what Elsa has in store for them. Back in the past, in Elsa's kingdom of Arendelle, we will discover what happened to her, her sister Anna and Kristoff, and how and why Elsa became a prisoner of Rumplestiltskin. And now that Emma has brought back Robin Hood's wife, Marian, and possibly sparked the end of Regina's relationship with him, will she return to her old, evil ways and do everything in her power to get even? And newlyweds Belle and Rumplestiltskin continue to be deeply in love with each other. But Rumple is hiding a secret from Belle -- one that, if found out, could destroy their happiness - he continues to be the master of the dagger that calls upon him to be the Dark One. Can Emma and Hook commit to one another, and can these two damaged people take their love to the next level? Mary Margaret and David have a new baby, Prince Neal, and are looking forward to raising him into a proud, brave and loving adult. But they are still sad that they were not able to do this with Emma, instead helping her escape the curse when she was first born and not meeting her again until she was 28 years old. Henry is very happy to have both of his mothers back in Storybrooke. But with biological mom Emma and paternal grandfather Rumplestiltskin's blood running through his veins, he will be tested by both the light and the darkness. Finally, Will Scarlet (Michael Socha, "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland"), a former member of Robin Hood's band of Merry Men, has traveled across many lands to make his way to Storybrooke. He finds himself intertwined in the goings-on in town for the first time as his mysterious past pushes him to an unknown future.
As the season continues, new fairy tale characters will be revealed and old acquaintances will be revisited. But not everyone can be trusted. ABC Lead 8/13/2014

"Obviously, we know that the end of the season three was the first time that Emma genuinely, truly kissed Hook and felt vulnerable with him and Hook felt like he had finally earned some trust in her eyes. That’s a big step for her.
I’m worried that last night’s Once Upon a Time was the beginning of the end for “good” Emma. Will the Author being in Storybrooke distract her from hating on her parents, or is she guaranteed to go dark dark? –Jamie
That, I reckon, is the million-dollar question as the final episodes play out. As Colin O’Donoghue reminds, “The second half of this season is about the struggles that heroes and villains each have. And what great about the show is it’s never cut and dry. It’s never as easy as a villain is a straight villain or the heroes are pure heroes. They’ve all done something that they regret, but learn from it in a positive way.” As for the Savior specifically, Hook’s portrayer says, “We’ve seen moments where you could see where Emma could maybe become darker. Whether or not she does is a whole other thing.”
On Once Upon a Time's spring premiere, it looked like Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) were getting along like fairy-tale franks and beans (What? It's a thing. Just ask Granny.). Unfortunately, in this exclusive sneak peek of Sunday's episode (8/7c, ABC), that little honeymoon period appears to have passed. Watch the video above to see what's gotten in the way of the lovebirds' happiness.
We can't even imagine what sordid past he and Ursula (Merrin Dungey) have together. Did he eat calamari in front of her? Or maybe she once stole his hook? Fortunately, all is not lost between him and Emma. Even if her trust in him is tested, series co-creator Edward Kitsis assures TVGuide.com, "Hook feels that his job is protecting Emma's heart at all costs, so we will see that play out."
Emma will need all the support she can get. In the last episode, we also learned that the bat-creature Chernabog, who is drawn to the person whose heart has the potential for the most evil, targeted Emma, not Regina (Lana Parilla), as everyone had assumed. Now that the Queens of Darkness know this about The Savior, it remains to be seen what they'll do next. "It's not so much recruitment as exploiting that potential for darkness," says Kitsis. "We're going to see all of them try to see how they can use it for their own ends."
But the big question is: If Emma goes dark, will her fashion choices change? As we've seen on the show, evil tends to lean toward more flamboyant attire. Co-creator Adam Horowitz says, "You would have to pry that jacket from her." Kitsis adds, "If Emma were to turn to the dark side, if there's one thing you can say about our show, it's that our costume department always rises to the challenge."
Check out what else the series creators told reporters at a screening for Once Upon a Time:
If Emma were to embrace her dark side at all, how would Henry (Jared Gilmore) react?
Edward Kitsis: Henry would do his best his best to keep her on the good side of the Force. Henry has the heart of the truest believer, and the truest believer always believes in you even when you're maybe going down a wrong path.
With Emma possibly going to the dark side, how could that change her powers up to this point?
Adam Horowitz: It's less about what the powers are than how they're used.
Kitsis: We've seen Rumple (Robert Carlyle) and Regina use their powers to help us, be it fighting villains or whatnot. And we've seen them rip out the hearts of 20 villagers because they wouldn't let Regina know where Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) was.
We found out that Snow White and Charming (Josh Dallas) did something really bad that the Queens of Darkness know about. How bad can it really be?Kitsis: Hopefully bad enough but not bad enough that it's bleak, and [viewers] go, "Wow, what did they do to Once Upon a Time? That's the icky show now." What we really want to explore is if you've done a bad thing, can you come back from it? Can you become the person you want to be even if you didn't start out that way? And vice versa? What makes a hero and what makes a villain is a point of view.
Horowitz: For the last number of seasons, we've seen a lot of our villains like Regina and Gold kind of go on a redemption arc where we've seen them start really bad and try to fight those urges and be their better selves to varying degrees of success. What we wanted to do was start to explore the idea with our heroes as well ... and how it will start to affect Emma as well.
D23: It was great to watch Emma gain some control over her powers. We couldn’t tell if she had one talent—like Elsa with ice—or if she can do many things, like Regina?
Eddy: Certain characters have a very specific power like Elsa. And then we’ve seen magic as an art that is wielded by people like the Evil Queen, Cora, and Rumplestiltskin, I think Emma is much more that way.
Adam: Emma is the savior and she was born with magic. We’ll explore more of what that means for her, what her destiny is beyond what we’ve said before.
D23: It seems like enough time for Emma and Hook to be, well, hooked up.
Eddy: They’re kind of in a good place. We’ll see them as a couple facing the world. We’re going to get some insight into Hook and some secret fears of his own. And we’ll see Hook has a backstory of his own with one of the queens of darkness.
D23: We talk a lot about themes each year. And it feels like the theme of the second half of this season is, “Can villains have happy endings?” Eddy: I also think there’s a theme of ‘What makes a hero and what makes a villain?” and maybe it’s not as black-and-white as we think. We’re definitely going to be exploring the grey area. We’ll discover some of the villains aren’t as villainous as we thought, and maybe the heroes aren’t as heroic as we thought.
"Will you be exploring more of what it's like for Emma to be in this relationship with Hook?
Kitsis: Yes.
Horowitz: What we saw in the finale was the beginning of something, which could go in many different ways and many different avenues down which they could go. It's not like they're going to suddenly go to order Chinese and watch Netflix. There's going to be some challenges ahead and we're going to have to show you some surprises about where the two of them go."
'Once Upon a Time' showrunners spill 'Frozen' secrets (no Olaf!) EW: I’ve avoided asking you specific plot questions because I know that’s the area you don’t want to get into. But is there anything you’re comfortable to tease overall about how the Frozen storyline works into the rest of the show? Kitsis: Thematically we can say the first half of the season is about how you never give up on the people you love.
