Well a baby wouldn't have worked with the RJ plot and I think they wanted more time to get them back together.

I don't think they wanted to deal with a pregnancy on the show. It would have been much too limiting. Because you don't just have the pregnancy - then you have the baby to account for all the time. Most action/drama shows that have children on the show do a pretty poor job of dealing with how characters who are parents can manage to chase criminals at all hours and sometimes across the country.

It would have been sort of interesting to have Grace turn up pregnant by Rigsby - especially so soon after Benjamin was born. Ben was born in Something's Rotten in Redmund, which was April 5, 2012. Amanda Righetti gave birth to her child on January 10, 2013 - which is curiously exactly 40 weeks after Ben was born. So if they matched the timeline to real life, that would basically mean that Rigsby and Van Pelt were creating a new little baby at about the time that Ben was born
 Since Rigsby and Van Pelt wind up getting married in October 2013, it would really just mean revealing that their relationship was back in full swing somewhat earlier than anyone thought. __________________

Either way, I think it would have been fun to have a pregnant Grace during the show - whether or not Amanda was pregnant. It would have been fun to see Rigsby's reaction!

I always think that Maddie was born just about a year after they got married - but then I have to remember that there's a 2 year time jump in the middle of Season 6.
