It does. Their friendship is probably one of the most important relationships in fiction because besides the vampire part, you can relate.

Me too. Sure, the ships and characters are all great but their friendship is amazing.

That's right. Nothing else matters if not for this core friendship, and IMO the series wouldn't have been as popular as it is. Without this friendship it would then just be another vampire series.
