Grimm Season I: In which we learned about Grimms, Wesen, Royals and Ancient Secrets
Welcome to the GRIMM Season I (2011-2012) Discussion Thread! {Season I re-watch begins on Page 3} Official Season One Poster IN THE BEGINNING .. Portland police detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) has seen some gruesome crime scenes, but nothing prepares him for the unusual visions he begins having: seemingly regular people momentarily transforming into strange creatures or hideous monsters. ~ A visit from his only living relative reveals the truth... Nick has inherited the ability to see the supernatural and, as a "Grimm," he is tasked with keeping the balance between mankind and the mythological. A reformed "Big Bad Wolf" (Silas Weir Mitchell as Monroe) becomes his greatest (and initially reluctant) ally and confidant. It isn't long before his work as a police detective leads Nick to the criminals he once thought were only found in fairy tales. ~ Now the tales of the Brothers Grimm come to life in this new thriller. Created by David Greenwalt (Angel, Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Jim Kouf (Angel, National Treasure), Grimm is a fresh new take on the world of not-so-fairy tales and the supernatural. Excellent Video (YouTube) Season 1 Recap Episodes: (Fall, 2011 - Spring, 2012) 1.01 - Pilot 1.02 - Bears Will Be Bears .... 1.03 - Beeware 1.04 - Lonely Hearts .... 1.05 - Danse Macabre 1.06 - The Three Bad Wolves .... 1.07 - Let Your Hair Down 1.08 - Game Ogre .... 1.09 - Of Mouse and Man 1.10 - Organ Grinder .... 1.11 - Tarantella 1.12 - Last Grimm Standing .... 1.13 - Three Coins in A Fuchsbau 1.14 - Plumed Serpent .... 1.15 - Island of Dreams 1.16 - The Thing with Feathers .... 1.17 - Lovesick 1.18 - Cat and Mouse .... 1.19 - Leave It To The Beavers 1.20 - Happily Ever Aftermath .... 1.21 - Big Feet Season 1 Finale: 1.22 - Woman in Black (to be continued......) ~ Synopses of all episodes can be found at the Grimm Wikia __________________

Nice video to watch. I'll have to look up some of my s1 re-watch notes and post here.

Thank you, here goes.
The Pilot *Nick's grimm-ness is starting to come in. This episode seems to appear to be some of his initial sitings of wesen. Aunt Marie comes in for a visit. Juliette has invited her in to share their meal. I don't know if they've met in person before, but Nick must have spoken of her alot for Juliette to let her become so comfortable in their home. *Right away Marie takes Nick outside and is accosted by a grimm reaper, Hulda. She pulls off her necklace key, which looks made of green jade or emerald. In the first 15 minutes of the pilot episode the key makes an appearance and its importance is made. *Then during the crime portion of the show Nick meets Monroe for the first time. He is struggling more with his blutblad side than we've seen him do. It is not shown how, but Monroe and Nick form an uneasy alliance and Monroe becomes his "Hank" for wesen work. Also Monroe is teaching Nick things, which is why I think Nick sticks with him so much here. So dark this initial epi is and the actors do not worry about glamour. Aunt Marie's baldness is done so well I had a hard time seeing the cap. *Captn Renard and Adalind are working together. He is the one who is orchestrating Adalind's attempt to kill Aunt Marie. If you can remember the show, please comment and/or discuss if you'd like. Knowing everything from s2, I found it shocking to remember that Renard and Adalind tried to kill Marie and that that special key, was introduced in this epi. Right away. |

I do remember a lot of it. Isn't it in the pilot that Monroe dives out the window in his Blutbad form and tackles Nick, then tells him they'll go get a brew and that Nick has to pay for the window? I loved that scene!

Right .. it seems to me that the friendship really took off that evening they had dinner at Monroe's and he said Nick always just wanted to know about Wesen and why didn't he ask him his favorite color?
It seemed the whole tone of the relationship changed for the beautiful right there. __________________

Zakynthos. Yes, the writers created a mythology for the show and they have stuck to it - expanding the story, yes; but all the essential parts have been there from the beginning. That's fairly unusual in a show like this, imo.

Hi, guys! I've never posted on this board before, but I just realized today that there's a Grimm forum! I've just started watching the show. So exciting, right? I'm watching S01E15 right now! I was going to watch Breaking Bad, but I decided Grimm was more Halloweeny~. I'm really enjoying it so far though!

Welcome! We're very happy to welcome another new Grimm fan into the fold!
So if you're watching 1x15 now, have you watched the previous 14? Don't miss them! Every episode builds on the mythology. Last season's Halloween episode, "La Llorona," is hard to beat if you want to get into the spirit of Monroe's favorite holiday! We actually just won the poll and were awarded a new board last week, on Oct. 1st! We're currently getting the forum off the ground and some threads are still "under construction," but we're very excited to have it before the Oct. 25th Premiere! Please visit often! __________________
