I think it was daring; how he just walked into the station house to confront his cousin, instead of meeting at his hotel away from public. It was funny how Drew was trying to say his whole name. I thought that all the officers would be standing for him because its a sign of respect for any royal family and its members when their abroad. The news clips they showed of Eric's death were European; but I would think that they were shown in other countries as well; cause any kind of tragedy for any royal family is public news; and as such, I would think the US would be familiar with the Konninberg family, and thus the officers would show respect for the prince upon his entrance into the station house. Instead, they just went about their normal duties like anything else. Has no one, other then Europeans heard of this family? I know its fictional, but I'm just laying out the normal protocol that anyone would do in contact with a royal family.

Well, I wouldn't expect the police in Portland, OR to recognize any royals unless they were shown pictures and assigned to guard them.
Viktor wouldn't have been admitted if Renard hadn't told Wu to send him in.

Although some members of royal families have had celebrity status in the US, we don't have the ties to royalty or the attached protocols that you do in Canada.
They're just people.

I don't know for the US either but in my country (i'm french) no one would really care either because a foreign prince is showing up, there's hundreds of princes all over Europe, we don't know 99% of them. Of course they would be respect because we would assume he probably has a top ranking place either in diplomacy or finances, but it would be more because of the fonction than the title, also there would be curiosity from some people for the history of his family; but in term of protocol, except if it was during some official event, there wouldn't be any. So I think it's coherent not to show any kind of acknowledgement in a country who have even less tie with aristocracy than us.


And are the Konninberg still royals ? Not in Austria of course, but somewhere else ?Has their place in society ever been officially stated ?

Exactly, Natacha. Your country and mine fought bloody Revolutions so that we wouldn't have to be nice to royals or treat them special unless we wanted to!
