9.21 Mi Familia Pt. 1 Episode Discussion

Mi Familia Part One

After discovering that Mary (Jessica Biel, who does not appear in the episode) has filed for divorce and signed away custody of her son, Matt (Barry Watson) is at a loss for how he's going to break this awful news to Eric (Stephen Collins) and Annie (Catherine Hicks). Simon (David Gallagher) informs his new girlfriend, Rose (guest star Sarah Thompson), that he won't have sex with her, but avoids telling her the reason behind his decision. Meanwhile, Ruthie's boyfriend, Vincent (guest star Thomas Dekker), asks Martin (Tyler Hoechlin) to get Ruthie (Mackenzie Rosman) to break up with him, Lucy (Beverley Mitchell) finally decides she and Kevin (George Stults) may be ready to move out of her parents' house, and Eric introduces Cecilia's father (guest star Brad Maule) to a potential foster child, but forgets to mention that the kid is part of a package deal.
Nikolas & Lorenzo Brino also star. Joel J. Feigenbaum directed the episode written by Sue Tenney.

Grr. Grr grr grr. Sometimes I really hate this show.

OK, well so far, lamest season finale since Season 4.

Mary signing off custody is huge, huge news (why in the heck would she do that? Wow.). That was the only part I liked actually. The whole Carlos/Matt thing wasn't bad, either, but I think Carlos wimped out by making Matt tell them. And they can only recycle that "Mary's irresponsible and won't talk to her parents" plot so many times, but that's OK. It's one of the better things they have come up with.

I hate Simon's girlfriend. Rose. Phooey on Rose. She's a liscentious little thing, isn't she? I can't take the lascivious actions on this show. It doesn't fit, it's not funny, or cute. Just gross. Speaking of gross, Simon wanting the sex lives of his brother and sisters? EWWWW!

I like Goerge. I'm not a fan of those kids, though. They recycled that one, too. Your sister? Your other sister? Your other other sister? Bah we know already and no one cares.

Ruthin blew tonight. I hate Vincent tons. Martin can't move out. Ruthie looks about three years younger with her hair straight, waaaay too young for Martin. If her hair's not curly next ep I lose all hope.
When Vincent kissed Ruthie's forehead, anyone flashback to Wilson and Mary in the living room in Breaking Up Is Hard To Do after Mary tells Wilson that she wishes he'd stop acting like a dad all the time.

And, speaking of flashbacks, the music Martin was listening to on the TV (well, more the sounds), same as the western movie at the dollar theater Mary and Robbie went to go see when Lucy and Rick tagged along.

I think the twin's had the best subplot of all. That was cute of them. Go SamVid yelling at the mommy. Woo!

Lucy is annoying. Why does she want to stay so bad? I honestly don't get it. And Annie saying that Lucy and Kevin were going to start havig marital troubles if they stay was really, really stupid, but I'm hoping against hope that that was some sort of foreshadowing.

Next week looks sucktastic. Man was this episode awful. I really hated it.

Again I might add why do I watch this show? I kinda like the whole George/Gwen doing the whole foster parent thing. That's kinda cool.

Vincent/Ruthie/Martin: Sad Martin is leaving the Camden Palace :-(. I want to smack Vincent for just being him and Ruthie yeah well I'm not liking her after that horrible crying scene.

Eric/Annie/Matt/Carlos: Carlos is a chicken, Matt is being the typical older brother, Eric well I'm surprised he didn't have a heart attack and I'm waiting for Annie to just fall over stumped.

Kevin/Lucy: I knew they were going to find a house right next door. i could of predicted that to everyone in january.

I dunno i hate to say this but this season wasn't the best thank god for next season and dearest brenda hampton please please please make next one that i'll want to tape and cherish forever!

I'll be watching next week.

I can't believe this show! They are so skewed onthe ideas of love and marriage and sex it is ridiculous. If anything, the dysfunction of Mary and Matt's marriages should be showing Simon that getting married doesn't make sex easier or better. Instead they let this STD-thing make him so paranoid he's actually considering marrying a girl so he can have sex. The fact that the engagement conversation went, "You really like me that much?" goes to sho you this is doomed. Like! Like! How about love, since we are talking about MARRIAGE here!

I just don't even really know where this show stands on the issue of sex anymore but I know it's screwed up either way.

Why do we still watch?? I think this is my last year. You do not get married to have sex. You don't have sex with everyone you see but getting married to have sex is just stupid.

Lucy drives me crazy with not moving out and expecting her mother to watch the baby all of the time. Grow up girl.

I don't like the writing....and the acting leaves a lot to be desired. So I'm out so the rest of you can enjoy this "show" .

Geez, it's episodes like this that reminds me why I hate this show.

I hate it how they put in semi-good episodes in their to give us hope, semi-Ruthin moments to give us hope, and then they shovel in crap like this and take it all away!

This was an OK episode I agree with Kim Carlos is a chicken he should have been the one to tell Eric & Annie Matt is just being the typical older brother trying to do the right thing.I'm sad Martin is leaving but happy Lucy & Kevin are moving they need to move really bad.I felt really sorry for Annie when Sam & David were being mean to her it made me sad.As for the adoption thing I thought that was really cool & I like Rose too she's pretty cool I'm glad Ruthie is back to straight hair she looks really pretty

I thought the episode was okay, but why must they constantly tease us by making us think Ruthin are going to get together but then the next episode they completely forget it. I was so mad when Ruthie looked completely disgusted when she thought Martin liked her! Grr! Plus, they did it again on the previews for next epi, which showed them hugging. But it was obvious that Ruthie was crying, which means it''s b/c Martin is moving out. Also, why are all Simon's girlfriends sex-hungrey little sluts? I don't get this show, but I love it anyway.

I'm still upset over this. It's been nearly 24 hours and I still can't get over it. This show is just sooo bad sometimes. And I don't even love to hate it. I hate to hate it. I want to love it. But I can't when there is stuff like this on the air. This show should have ended a while ago. They could have stopped it at Season 6. That would have been fine enough for me. Every blessed event from there on has been a disaster, and last nights episode was no different.

I'm definitely in the "Why do I still bother?" camp.

So basically Mary just deserted her child?

That is so wrong on so many levels. I'm sure they had Lucy add something in there about how bad she is.

I love Bev, but they have Lucy say the bitchiest things about Mary at times. Especially since they used to be so close too, I just hate that.

Basically, She gave up custody (signed it away) and I don't think she has any intentions of going back to him or to Carlos. Ever.

Lucy bothers me becuase she says things, and she thinks she's being nice an optimistic, but she's just annoying and rude. I don't know. Maybe it's just because I'm an eternal pessimist.
