There is moments in the show when I didn't like dany so much, when she seemed a bit out of touch with her own principles, but i think that's why she has people like jorah, tyrion, etc to remind her of her true self, so that she can always find back to it.

What you said plus no character is white or black. They are grey and yes, Dany is so too and didn't always have her light moments but she always did what she thought was best for everyone.
