such a shame. Ed is really a nice human being (judging from what i saw on media) and he doesn't deserve that. the fact that it even needs defending is pretty pathetic.

I liked Ed Sheeran. People get far too serious about music. He has a voice to be proud of. I enjoyed the scene. The director doesn't need to justify his decision.

talking about the scene, i thought Arya would kill the Lannisters on spot. did anyone think the same at first?

At the moment, I suspect Ed Sheeran and his buddies are primarily there as a plot contrivance, to delay Arya in her mission of killing Cersei. The show was really laying it on thick by having all the soldiers take turns telling there's no place like home. So sometime in the next couple of episodes, they'll get killed and Arya will remember what they said about home and decide to go to Winterfell.

i think we won't see them again and the scene was there to show that there are nice Lannister people too since it always depends on the human being. you can't generalize "all Lannisters are evil". they are just simple soldiers who also don't want to fight any more.

I'm going with they all get killed (one guy talked abut his newborn, which is a death warrant even in shows without GOT's mortality rate) with the exception of the light bug eyed kid, because Thomas Turgoose would be an odd casting choice for someone to only give a couple of lines to.

I think the point of the scene was to show that Arya hasn't gone full psycho which is why it was paired this episode with the scene of the Hound finding the bodies of the farmer and his daughter who he left to starve when he robbed them.

In both cases the unwary party invited someone in with the offer of rabbit but while the Hound betrayed his hosts (and later came to regret it as we saw when he buried them), Arya was reluctant to take their food even though they were serving the woman she was traveling to kill. She ended up eating and drinking with them and listening to her stories and when she told them that she was on her way to kill Cersi and they didn't believe her, her smile seemed more of a look of relief that she didn't have to kill them or lie to them.

i seriously doubt we'll see that band of Lannisters again. they served the purpose to show that Arya has a plan and she's sticking to it. No need to go off track and kill every Lannister in uniform. she's focused on Cersei.

I agree that I don't think we'll see this group again. I think the point of the scene was to show war's humanity. We've been so bogged down by leaders and rulers fighting each other for power that we (and Arya) forgot that there are masses of people caught up in this through no fault of their own. Arya was obviously cautious of them, eyeing them up and seeing if they posed a threat. Ultimately, they were just simple people who want to sing, go home to their families, and get back to their lives.
