Very strong episode, with a great cold opening. Some of the shots were absolutely beautiful, and are the equal (if not better) than some major blockbuster films. In particular, I enjoyed the Jon scenes, and I also liked the wordless (until the very end) Daenerys ending. Very effective.
On the other hand, I would've liked to see a little more of Bran (perhaps asking where Jon was, and finding out that both Jon and Sanas recaptured Winterfell). I also don't understand what Ed Sheeran was doing in the episode. I know he's Maisie's favourite singer, but I don't care; they should have had someone else in the role. Having said that they did surround him with great young actors like Thomas Turgoose and William (son of Pete) Postlethwaite, so I'll just about let them off. Great opening episode, and definitely in the top 3 premieres of GoT. It has really set things up nicely for future weeks. |

Also didn't quiet get the Ed Sheeran appliance. I imagined worse but it was actually okay but unnecessary if you ask me.
Bran/Jon/Sansa reunion next week! Looking forward to it so much. It was a great opener to set the pace of the next episodes. __________________

the scenes with Cersei, Dany and Bran felt more like teases, but they were still interesting and satisfying, especially the arrival at Dragonstone.
as for Ed Sheeran, i am a fan so i loved it __________________

What do you guys think about Jon/Sansa, I mean Sansa questioning Jon? I think she had a point but she should have done that in private. On the other hand Jon doesn't seem to listen to her...I think we can look forward to some great arguments here.
Besides, Lyanna Mormont rocks! But this is nothing new |

i could see where both of them coming from and i think both are right. i didn't choose a side here but i think it was wrong from Sansa to "challenge" him in public.

I finally saw the episode and I thought it was OK, not more TBH. Like many of you I don't really get Ed Sheeran's cameo, didn't really see the point of it.
I knew from the beginning that it was Arya who had taken Walder's face since we saw her killing him last season so her killing spree wasn't that shocking. I would've liked it more brutal I think hehe. I thought Dany was going to have more screen time and more than just one line so I was a bit disappointed by that. I love how they cut from Jorah to Dany though All the scenes with Jon/Sansa, Jaimie/Cersei, The Hound etc. didn't really give me much. But hopefully there is more to come. The best stuff were the Mormonts of the episode. I LOVE Lyanna, such a tough girl! Happy to see Jorah although it was brief, hopefully we get to see him more next episode. Hoping next episode will be better! __________________

you know, you're right that very little actually happened but i still enjoyed it for the anticipation it built up. the best parts for me were the Sansa-Jon conflict and Dany's scene in the end.

Arya's scene in the beginning was obvious but I still enjoyed her revenge scene and that she spared the girl. Jon/Sansa and Jaime/Cersei was great but didn't really felt much with the Hound and his companions. But I am asking myself what he did see in the fire.

The Cersei and Jamie really struck me because for most of the series, I would have said that the Lannisters were a more interesting family than the Starks. Jamie and Cersei are just hollowed at this point, I think. Without her children, Cersei has nothing left but revenge and Jamie seems completely adrift. Meanwhile, Sansa's trials have forged her into a much more interesting character.
And yes Lyanna Mormont rocks so much! __________________

That girl is the coolest really.
My first intention was Dany's head but we all know he won't achieve that. Maybe he brings her some prisoners like Yara and the Martells? |
