Interesting episode, lot's of cool moments, lot's of nice slower paced moments. I liked how they devoted a continuous set of time for each set of characters, didn't feel rushed. Thought the Jon and Sansa scenese were great and believable. Arya scenes were epic as always. The scenes with the Hound, Thoros, and Beric were pretty damn interesting. Nice to see the Hound attempt to atone for his past and of course the visions he had in the fire.
I kept on asking "where’s Dany?" Not enough of her in this episode but I got emotional when she arrived, finally, in Dragonstone. I think this premiere succeeded in setting up the tone and plot lines for this season. |

I'm so emotional. Watching Dany walk the halls of Dragonstone, the first place her ancestors built, her birthplace…..All that Targaryen epicness. My poor heart. What a sight that was

Can we talk about how Dany's scene is so well made? Like, the music is (like in the rest of the show) flawless. But, most importantly, the silence. It is only interrupted by the sound of gates opening, of the gates that have been always closed to Dany until now, they are welcoming her. This silence shows respect, expectation for what's to come and that is exactly what the last (and only sentence) means. "Shall we begin?" That is the only thing she can say, because she has done everything, she has found an army, supporters, trustworthy people all she has dreamed of. Now the only thing left is to make that dream reality.
The distracting Ed Sheeran cameo aside, I thought it was a solid opening act. Lots of stuff put into place and more highlights than usual in an opening episode (certainly more than last season's opener): Arya's Walder Frey moment, the Hound returning to the scene of the crime and feeling the weight of his past, the Euron moment, Sam’s talk with the Arch Maester and the jump scare with Jorah, and finally Dany, the silent return, and closing on that ominous line, "Shall we begin?" Really amped for next week. __________________

i liked the Ed Sheeran cameo. it was not disturbing and the focus wasn't on him but he was still very visible in the scene which was great. Arya killed it this episode. literally!
not enough Ser Jorah in the episode for me. also not enough Dany but this will come for sure. i am still breathless about the end of the episode this show is so strong with the music, visuals and setting. not many words needed. just kudos! __________________
