You're probably right, Tara. Plus I'd prefer it that way too actually.

I'm in the same boat. I just hope it's not over hyped. The way that Clark talks about makes me excited for it.

I like that he has such a great grasp on the sci-fi genre.

Hi can you add me, I so squealed when I saw we had this board.
Clark seems really excited about it so I trust his judgement and I'd say we won't find out about his miraculous return till at least the end of the season and even the reveal will probably have some sort of repercussions that will last on into the next season. __________________

I just opened this forum today. All I've seen about the show is one commercial.
Though Stan Lee is my favorite author I read only one full comic of Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos (issue 13 with Captain America) and one Strange Tales issue with the Agents of SHIELD in the first half. I also had a 1965 special that included the first six pages of Sgt. Fury issue one. I read Fantastic Four 21 with Col. Fury before his eye patch and a few Avengers issues with Fury and the Agents, including the one where Dum-Dum says Fury is dead. Is Dum-Dum going to be in this? I saw Iron Man and was pleased but didn't notice the character's name until I saw Avengers. My name is Phillip Cole so it was more painful to watch him die than it should have been. On the other hand I hope this show does not acknowledge the events of other Marvel stories. I hope the early episodes at least begin before there were any superheroes other than these people. That would leave the option of the heroes appearing but let the show have it's own continuum. I stopped reading new comic books after Avengers 131 when Immortus brought Zemo back to life. He died in Avengers 15 and stayed dead. That was the last link of credibility as the stories got more absurd. In any case, it's been about 20 years since I watched the first episode of any tv show on purpose so this may be a treat for me or a colossal disappointment. I look forward to talking to you all, especially about the smallest nuances of the series. |

Welcome Phillip! I have no idea if that character you mentioned will be on the show (sorry, I don't read the comics). This show will have a tie-in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe but will have a story of it's own. In terms of more future guest stars (superheroes & villains), the show's creators are mum about that.

This show is different. Hopefully the supporting cast will be deep enough that someone can die and stay dead, including a season-one regular. I hope the story starts around 2002, about the time a real organization like that might have been created. They can interact with real developments in the world and react (at some point) to the first Hulk movie. (Since the three Hulk movies don't mesh with each other credibly, poetic license is easy. A pre-Iron Man Tony Stark can be mentioned. If necessary, season two can parallel the first Iron Man movie with other things happening. That's ho I'd do it. The one sad thing is that there can never be a movie about Sgt. Fury since he could not have become Col. Fury. In the 1960s that was a natural progression. |
