I guess if she had taken it then Amelia would have pushed Sarah even more that Mrs S couldn't be trusted, but she also wouldn't have any proof of it. Perhaps maybe Mrs S wanted Sarah to know how she became involved but had hoped to explain what had happened since then to her before she jumped to conclusions.

That said, I'm assuming she is the one that blackens out the names on the back.

Yeah, I think her thought process was: "Okay, Amelia is back, there's no use trying to escape it. Amelia will be able to prove it regardless of whether or not she has the photo. I'll just tell Sarah my side of the story when she gets back." But ofc other stuff got in the way.

Yeah, hide it enough so Sarah doesn't jump to conclusions but not so much that it looks like she's hiding something.

It'll be interesting to see what Sarah thinks of it after she's had a bit of time to think about it. She didn't really give it a second thought given everything that happened at the end of the season.
